J T Chapman

Biography

Books have always fascinated me. I can vaguely remember my older brother coming home from school and showing off his new books. Word recognition came easily and by the time I started school a year later I could read most of the books they set in front of me.

Life has a way of throwing you off balance. It did for me when at nineteen I became a mother for the first time. Plans for the future were put on hold, fading into dreams and later to what could have beens. I've no regrets.

My passion for writing came late in life. With my family reared and ready to leave home, I needed a hobby. It was a natural migration for this avid reader to pick up the pen, or laptop as the case may be, and begin writing. The result surprised me.

I guess I've always been a story teller, making up tales of epic battles with spiders and other nasty creepy-crawlies from an early age.

Callie is my first completed work of fiction, my baby isn't perfect; she's a vampire witch, an Enchantress and the result of an over active imagination. Everybody loves her, especially me.

A delightful collection of short stories to suit every mood. Addictive reading, once you start you just can't help but read the next and the next. Gavin Wilson is a very talented writer who knows how to tell an entertaining tale.

The characters are very well depicted and makes you want to find out how they get on. From the loveable Joe to the fiery Belinda, each have a personality that fits seamlessly throughout. Vanessa and Joe's relationship is fraught with mishaps, danger and insecurity. You can't help but turn the page and watch it develop. I'm eager to read more about Belinda and some of the others of their kind. Imagine my joy to see the author has indulged us with more tales from the Ocean's depths.

I will never look at a raspberry the same way again. No, seriously. A follow up to the first book with new characters and an entirely new perspective on the roles these 'women' play in their society. Duty and love with a conflict of emotions thrown in for good measure. I don't want to spoil the end but, Vanessa and Joe have... Nah, you have to read it.

I actually picked this up a couple of days ago and couldn't put it down until I turned the last page. The first chapter drew me in completely, it was instantly intriguing. So much so that I had to know more. Some of it was hazy/clouded and, as you read it's revealed why - pure genius, that's all I'm saying. The rest of the book didn't disappoint in any way. The author managed to keep me guessing on motives, involvement and even the outcome the entire time. I was wrong most of the time and perhaps that's what kept me reading - not knowing what was coming next.

I love the video trailers! A student nurse adding to her education fund brings no surprise to the unflappable Belinda. While the Irish intern proves he only has eyes for the midwife. Plenty of steam generated between the characters in and out of the shower. There's something about a man in an apron. Just an apron...
