Joel Arnold lives in Minnesota with his wife, two kids, two cats, a dog, two fish and a rat. His writing has appeared in dozens of publications, ranging from Weird Tales and Chizine to Amercian Road Magazine and Gothic.net. Many of his short stories are available as free podcasts at Pseudopod.org. He was recently awarded a 2010 Minnesota Artist Initiative Grant as well as the 2010 Gulliver Travel and Research Grant.

    I really enjoyed this heartbreaking story, told from the point of view of a third-grader who prefers playing by himself. I feel the author nailed the voice of this child - very believable, and I remember having some of those feelings when I was a youngster. Recommended!
