Joy McGuire

Biography

Joy McGuire began writing novels as a way to have some control in her life. "I loved being able to play God to my characters. I could have total power over their behavior." Then she realized that even fictional characters have a way of behaving on their own.

Her first novel won honorable mention from a Gardenia Press contest, and she won a Win-Win competition for a humorous short story titled "Beer & Tampons". Her first attempt at a romantic short was accepted for publication in Women's World magazine. Her novel, Inbox, was a quarter-finalist in the 2010 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards contest.

Raised without roots as an "army-brat", she has resided in California's rural Central Valley since her teens. She currently calls the quaint Swedish town of Kingsburg home, where her most cherished possessions are her laptop computer and her brand-new Kindle, a gift from her "better half", Tom.

Her proudest accomplishments to date are her two children.
