Biography
The Parker Affair is a debut work of fiction by Jim Perry, a Californian by way of Texas. Born in the Panhandle of West Texas, Jim shuttled back and forth from the dusty plains of Eastern and central New Mexico and Colorado until his teen years. He remained in Lubbock, Texas, until graduating from Texas Tech in 1964 with a marketing degree. During his five years in the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Donna Wickersham. His experience in the navy included Naval Aviation, duty as navigator aboard the USS Paricutin, an ammunition ship that served the Pacific Fleet during the Vietnam Conflict, and was the Operations Officer aboard the USS Amphion where he was mustered out of the service and joined the civilian population in October, 1969.
Jim resides in Northern California and enjoys the company of his family and the cool fishing waters of the High Sierras. His inspiration to write started in college during a creative writing class and has only surfaced after writing a pictorial autobiography. His inspiration was urged after meeting Nicholas Sparks, a high school classmate of his Son and youngest daughter. He took Sparks’ advice to read every form of literature possible and keep the prose simple with a small cadre of characters with whom the readers could develop a relationship. His brief meeting and conversation with best selling author of the Flight of the Intruder, Stephen Coonts also played a part in Jim’s determination to tell this story.
