Jug Brown

Biography

Jurgen "Jug" brown was born in Bingle Springs, in the outback of Austrailia, in 1951. His father abandonned his pregnant girlfriend before Jug was born, and his mother died in childbirth. He was raised by Aboriginals and missionaries and was educated in a one room Ultraorthodox Christian cult school. At 16, he ran away from Bingle Springs barefoot and hitchhiked to Perth. He talked himself onto a ship, and worked as a merchant marine seaman and second mate for the next fifteen years, travelling the world. Along the way he married his Turkish wife Mara, and by correspondence courses he received a rare double Masters degree in Ethnology and Animal Husbandry. Jug Brown has lived in Brisbane, San Francisco, Amsterdam, Paris, Buenos Aires, Mexico, Glasgow, London and Myanmar. He currently lives in the Oregon coast range where he divides his time between writing and raising a herd of free-range goats. His first attempt at writing, Bush Bash to Drongo Nine, currently out of print was a Sci-Fi version of a classic Sommerset Maugham book. You can reach Jug at: jugbrown@gmail.com
