My name is Kaitlin Blackburn. I am a graduate who majored in Psychology and minored in Japanese. I worked on Through a Dream, Darkly as a senior project for a program on my campus called Scholars. My goal was to incorporate ideas, anecdotes, and themes from psychology (such as Jungian archetypes and Freudian ideas of id, ego, and superego) into a work of fiction. I read several autobiographical accounts of people who suffered from psychological disorders as well as other literature about psychology and writing. However, most of the dreams portrayed in the story are based on my own dreams and nightmares.
