Beautifully constructed and powerful in their deceptive simplicity, these stories are timeless and real. They transported me back to the joys and agonies of adolescence. I loved them as a sweet reminder but I'll also recommend them to my 12-yr-old niece. They will surely resonate with girls her age. In fact, in this new generation that is exposed to "edgy" everything, I think a book like this an important reminder that something like getting your period for the first time carries some significant emotional weight. Ms. Gibbons allows us to experience the intimate ups and downs of adolescence, and then makes it okay because it's not as scary when other people know exactly how you feel. The only negative was that I wanted more!
