Smashwords book reviews by Kaye George

  • Cheated By Death on June 28, 2010

I felt lucky to visit an old friend last week. CHEATED BY DEATH was made available, finally! In the third Jeff Resnick book, he makes contact some long-lost relatives, and wonders if he should have. Someone is out to get the workers at the women's health clinic where Brenda, his sister-in-law, is working. She'd love to finish up the week, then take time off, because she's looking forward to a blessed event. Jeff knows something bad about the future, though. And someone else is out to get Brenda. It also bothers Jeff that his half-brother, Richard, is holding something back from him. And Richard is one of the few people Jeff gets no psychic readings from. He's groping in the dark to find solutions to problems that seem to have no shape.
  • Lonnie, Me and the Hound of Hell on Sep. 19, 2010

These are little gems of stories, written in sparkling prose. Although I don't usually read fantasy and such, I even enjoyed every one of these stories. Superb job, even the unpublished are well-edited and a joy to read. (And I'm a person who gets frustrated by and stumbles over editing errors--can't find any here!)
  • Taken on Sep. 19, 2010

Ms. Lee has given us a wonderful plot and intriguing characters. An enjoyable read.
  • Saint Nick and the Fir Tree on Dec. 16, 2011

This is such a fun holiday read! Very clever and refreshing. It's a good read for adults, but children will love it too. Tree is a new Christmas character, and a different view of Saint Nick.
  • Sarah and the Other Woman: A Private Eye Patterson Mystery on Nov. 17, 2012

This is a cute, clever story. I enjoyed reading it! I expect there will be more Private Eye Patterson tales.
