- The Emotion Thesaurus: A Writer's Guide to Character Expression

This is the book I wish I had when I wrote my first Smashwords title: ‘The Star Alliance Chronicles: Crisis on the Rim’. Before I found the guide, I searched the internet exhaustively, and mostly in vain, for words and phrases that could help breathe emotional life into my characters. The guide is well thought out, easy to understand, and loaded with great examples of how to improve your narrative and communicate with your readers on an emotional level. In fact, I was so impressed with it that I purchased an extra copy for my editor and she was thrilled! Thank you for this fine publication…a must have in any writers toolkit.

More than a generation ago, the entire world was plunged into a war by men who sought to create entire races of disposable people. A great statesman of that time called their plans ‘The likes of perverted science’.
Heather Hildenbrand’s “Imitation”, echoes the fears of that generation who believed that the human race was headed for a second dark age. With a visually stunning narrative, great characters and, a well-developed plot, I walked through this story as a silent participant, invisible to the players, as the drama twisted and turned. I cheered for Ven, her, timid curiosity and the bravery she demonstrated while struggling to find her humanity. What impressed me the most was how the author handled the cloning technology; it was a minor character, carefully kept in the background where it was most effective. This allowed the characters to take center staage in the story. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to exploring other works by this talented author.
