Kelly Boykin has always loved the written word and, throughout her life, has used it as a means to deal with the emotional pain she suffered because of childhood sexual abuse. Her writing has been published in a national magazine, and she has appeared as an expert on two television talk shows, whose subjects were sexual addiction.
Ms. Boykin is the mother of two beautiful daughters, a business owner, entrepreneur, and author living in Middle Tennessee. Her and her oldest daughter founded the non-profit organization "Speak Up" to help victims and survivors of sexual abuse, allowing them to have a voice and to heal by speaking up. She grew up in Arizona with five brothers, her amazingly strong mother, and her step-father, who she calls dad.
Ms. Boykin continues to write and is authoring her second book, which she hopes to release in the Spring of 2012.
This small book A Treatise on Poetry for Beginners is an attempt to encourage a beginner to take more interest in reading and writing poetry, at a deeper level than is the usual practice. With this aim in mind, the reader is introduced to the elements of poetry with examples in a light, humorous and interesting manner.
The Death of Innocence is an additional title to the original "Confessions of a Sex Addict." For those who are hesitant to own the original title, The Death of Innocence will allow you to keep the book in plain sight without anyone being the wiser.
After enduring 12 years of sexual abuse at the hands of her father, and a long struggle with sexual addiction as an adult, Kelly Boykin set out on a journey of self-discovery by journaling about her past, her addiction, and her path to forgiveness and recovery. All book sales will be donated to RAINN, an organization that works tirelessly to provide support to the many victims of sexual violence.
