‘Stirring Winds’ is an Asian Literature Anthology, centering on the theme of life changes and significant moments. It contains six stories: five set in Japan and one in China, ranging in length from 900 – 3000 words.
Adriana moves back to her home town and fills in for the local doctor for several months. She reconnects with Jeff, a high school friend and ex-lover, but their first night together is interrupted by a scary, unexplainable event.
Over the next few days, Adriana is terrorized by an unknown entity, or is she just hallucinating? Her fear of being mentally unstable is very real, until the truth comes to light...
I enjoy a good ghost story, and this one blend's well with a sweet romance storyline. I loved the Australian countryside setting; it reminded me of the tv shows I watched and the books I read growing up in regional Victoria. Although a short book (it's one of Boroughs Publishing's Lunchbox Romances), the characters were well-developed and the story had a satisfying and complete ending.
I look forward to reading more of Ms. Gilbert's stories soon.
