I recently read "Book of Longing" by Leonard Cohen. The book prompted a poem of my own which basically questions whether I have ever really loved. I would say so but I have never felt the emptiness that Leonard expresses. Robert Shelby has a similar effect on me. He is overt (which is fine)and perhaps walloing but he is easy to read and invoked genuine empathy in me and I, it would seem, am thoroughly heartless! The poem "Questions" hints of other things to come. I can't wait.
