Publisher info

Bob Jordan was born in 1949 in the midwest. He had a 'Leave It To Beaver' type of childhood. Bob's childhood friends had much to do with his decision to become a writer of books. "I shared the playground with some strange, quirky kids. As I grew older I was never able to leave them behind. Their faces, stories, and laughter hitched a ride into my adult life and have been with me ever since. I had to write about them, they left me no choice!" Bob sums things up this way, "I never grew up, I just got taller."

Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
That's a great question. I grew up in a rural section of Ohio that was filled with lakes, rivers, forest and woods. I had a 'Leave It To Beaver' type of childhood. The kids I grew up with had everything to do with my decision to become a writer of books. I shared the playground with some strange, quirky, funny kids. As I grew older I was never able to leave them behind. Their faces, stories, and laughter hitched a ride into my adult life and have been with me ever since. I have to write about them, they left me no choice! I grew up in an era where imagination was the engine of your entertainment. I can pretty much sum things up this way...I never grew up I just got taller.
When did you first start writing?
I remember that time of my life well. It was the Spring of 1972 and I had enrolled in a Creative Writing class at Pasadena City College. Our Instructor's first assignment was to take a pad and pen and for the next hour sit outside the college somewhere and write down everything you see. I thought he was nuts at first, but later I began to see the method behind his madness. Later that year I began writing poetry and actually had my first poem published in the local newspaper. I also had another one published in a poetry magazine and received a check for seven dollars. I still haven't cashed it.
