After reading book 1, "The Protectorit" and immediately book 2, "For The Honor Of Black Roses", I feel humbled in trying to express the wonderful experience High Lady Kelly L Tharp gave to me. I am a 69 year old pedantic, flute playing, robot building, grounded-for-love private pilot and hopeless romantic, that grew up with dreams of going to space. The skill the High Lady Tharp, designer of the universe, docent to life, to create, describe, animate, and explain a myriad of individuals and societies is unmatched by any author I have read. I grew up with Robert Heinlein; I have reached the pinnacle of joy, realism, and emotional release with High Lady Tharp. While attempting to reconnect with my Scotch-Irish heritage, I was wowed by a set of Irish fairy tales, to later learn they were written by an high lady of Ireland. High Lady Tharp touched every part of my being with her writing skill. These books tell a beautiful story with mastery of pace, vocabulary, plot, humor, characters, cultures, physics, medicine and love in many flavors. I've never read a book that brought tears of joy to my eyes so many times and with such chest grabbing strength. These two books are immense.

I am such a sexist - surely men write the best Sci-Fi, no? Prior to reading the "high lady Kelly L Tharp" Protectorit, I gave my highest respect to Asimov and Heinlein. After reading (and experiencing) the Protectorit, I had to find out if the sequel "For The Honor of Black Roses" would start to feel repetitive or would maintain my interest, curiosity, involvement, and bond with the protagonist. (When I started "The Murderbot Diaries", Martha Wells, I had similar attachment feelings that waned toward the later books.) After my reading, experiencing, laughing and crying through "For The Honor of Black Roses", Kelly L Tharp has topped the masters, has moved me like none before, and has shattered my previously unrealized sexist prejudice against female ability to write "Hard Sci-Fi". In contrast to those masters I previously held in top respect, Kelly L Tharp combines all their abilities to craft great Sci-Fi and adds depth to the characters without boredom, and adds real physical emotional impact to the suspense and science in the masterfully imagined space, planets, and time.
