- The Commander and Den Asaan Rautu
on Oct. 14, 2011
WOW - that is all I can say, end of story.
Loved this book, it was addictive and endearing and just awesome. This would be great made into a movie.
It follows the Commander, an orphaned woman who joins the military to take revenge on those who killed her Father. While she is defending her country, the Commander goes for weapons only to find a Giant in the holding cells. She offers him a deal, if he helps win the battle, she will allow him to be free. The Den Asaan Rautu accepts her offer and helps her defend and win the battle. He then accepts her offer to stay and help defend her country from the war.
When the war is over, Rautu wanted to return to his home. The Commander was invited to return with him as well. On their journey they become engrossed in each other. Not wanting to be apart from each others company. The Den Asaan Rautu is agressive & stubborn, but on the inside is truly capable of love.
The characters and world that is created is amazing to say the least. Fantasy seems to be a small word for what this book offers. The book offers non stop action, sexual tension that will make the hairs stand up on your neck in anticipation and the whole atmosphere was to crystal clear, you can absolutely picture the scenes in your mind.
I highly recommend this to all Fantasy lovers.
- Sam, the Strawb Part
on Oct. 18, 2011
This was a beautifully written children’s book. Loved the story and can really see the children getting into it. Their imaginations are fantastic and I am sure there will be a lot of children pretending to be Sam, the Strawb Part.
Sam is a young boy whom loves strawberries and uses his wits and cunning to steal strawberries from unsuspecting mothers at the grocery store. Because of his appearance they feel for Sam and hand over their strawberries. The East Canada Fruit (Fool) Company is not impressed and hires a pirate to capture and stop Sam from stealing all the strawberries. This is where the adventure begins. The chase sets off around the country and Sam is always one step ahead.
This is Robin Hood meets Pirates of the Caribbean for a children’s book. Fantastic and another fantastic fact is that all proceeds of this book goes to charity, Children at Risk, a registered charity that supports families of children with autism spectrum disorders. What a wonderful cause, so please help support and read this lovely story.
- Immortal Beloved (#2 The Knight Trilogy)
on Dec. 15, 2011
Oh My Goodness this book is awesome. This book has it all; it’s a young adult romance with fantasy included, oh so good!
Number two in the trilogy and it is perfectly awesome. Follows on from number one and leaves it open for number three. Mina is still coming to terms with losing her best friend and her boyfriend. She is struggling through her daily life and has made a new friend in Delta. Delta is helping her cope and giving her a new reason to live. Mina and her mother still don’t seem to be able to mend their broken relationship and this doesn’t help Mina to break her zombie like routine.
Mina discovers the book Blake gave her under her mattress. She is crying and opens the book; her tears splash down on the pages and images appear. Mina doesn’t know if the images are real, but what appears isn’t something that you can imagine. Mina receives a visit from a friend of Blake’s, confirming the vision she saw. Everything goes wrong from this point on. Mina loses the plot and proves how much she truly loves Blake. With her love proven, she is told she must travel to Egypt to rescue Blake using her love.
Travelling to Egypt with her best friend Delta and her ex-boyfriend Sam, they undertake the toughest scavenger hunt of their lives. In order to save Blake they must find the temple of Osiris.
This was awesome; I am at a loss for words at how much I loved this book. Katie M John has the most amazing way of writing this adventure that you can’t help but be drawn in. The characters evolve with each chapter and Mina discovers how deep love can truly go. This series is truly one of my favourites and I cannot wait for number three. Highly recommend to all young adult readers.
