Biography
Prof. Lavagna has held the Chair of Pharmaceutical Industrial Plants in the University of Rome (Italy)
He was appointed member of the Academy of the History of Medical Art.
By a Rector’s Decree, he was appointed to manage training apprenticeships and student orientation conventions.
Together with ISPESL and the Academy of the History of Medical Art, he organised and chaired the national conference on: "The control and safety of medical-hospital plants for the protection of health". In his extra-university years, Prof. Lavagna worked for the Engineering Company, TPL, belonging to the French Group Tecnip on chemical-pharmaceutical and health plants in many parts of the world. Thanks to his experience in this field, he was appointed Visiting Professor at the University of Cagliari.
He worked for the Montedison Group in Milan and later for the Ferruzzi-Montedison Group. As Proposal Manager and Project Manager, he was in charge of the activities of the Research Centre at Nerviano and of the Rodano Plant. While working for the Engineering Company FICETEC (Farmitalia-Carlo-Erba Technimont-Engineering), he specialised in activities for the control of contamination in the Group’s production environments and plants, where the prevalent production was antibiotics and antitumor agents.
