Lawrence Bridges

Biography

Lawrence Bridges is best known for his creative work in the film and literary world. Having directed hundreds of TV commercials and and Music Videos, founding his own editing and design company Red Car, Bridges has been able to bring his ideas to fruition across numerous forms of media, from poetry to internet TV game shows. He is considered the primary architect of the so-called “anti-commercial.” His feature film "12" has amassed a cult following, beginning with the much-hyped guerrilla drive-in screenings in downtown Los Angeles. More recently, he directed a series of six documentaries on prominent American authors for the NEA's Big Read Program, which included Ray Bradbury, Amy Tan, and Tobias Wolff.

Lawrence's book of poems, Horses on Drums (Red Hen Press), was praised by The Literary Review as being part of a new group of "Dissociative Poets" who create coherent structure through startling juxtapositions and other unconventional means. In addition, he has been a guest lecturer in the department of English at Stanford University where he holds an MA degree. In October of 2009, Red Hen Press published his second book of poems entitled Flip Days.

Bridges currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife Elizabeth.
