  • Paradox - The Angels Are Here (Book 1) on May 18, 2011

The Angels are here is a very moving story about a little girl who has the power of sight, who is watched over by unseen forces. The same forces who were directed to protect her father. She is the one they seek. Now, she must face a future with a gift, sight she cannot contol, or even understand--and deep grief, alone, now, with her mother, who is paralyzed with grief when they abruptly lose the one man in their life. I was deeply moved by this book, griped by her grief, a grief I understand. Patti Roberts has a powerful way of putting you in the story, feeling every emotion Grace feels, right down to the heart-stopping grief of losing her father, being seen by the community as a freak, and finally making a friend, but not understanding the forces behind her friend, or the world around her. I gave this book four stars only because, a couple of times, I was confused for a period of time by what was happening. But I soon figured it out and went on to enjoy this book. If I could change anything, it would be only to know what happens next, but alas, I have to wait for the sequel. Paranormal readers would, very much, enjoy this book.
  • Evolution of Insanity on June 01, 2011

This author has a wonderful way of making you think about, and observe, your world around you. I felt like I was in Chicago, and though I have only spent a few months there, I have watched a lot of thses types of antics go on around me. If we could slow our world down, and really pay attention, what would we see? And would the seeing bring us closer to understanding? Or would it bring us closer to our own insanity--and there is where you find, The Evolution of Insanity. I have not enjoyed reading something so much in my life. I believe we'll be listening to Heresh Daswani on great talk shows, like Chicago on NPR, showing his delightful insights, for many years to come. I easily gave this book 5 stars
  • Vampires Rule on June 01, 2011

This book is about two young people destined to be together. Their love sees them through, against great odds. Only together can they face the evil forces who would destroy them both. From the moment I picked up this book, I didn't want to put it down, and I couldn't wait to get back to reading it when I was forced to put it away. The author is a superb storyteller, who keeps constant tension going between the characters, and who has a wonderful command of writing. She did use a different style in her writing, and some, who were not familar with it, might see it as leaving out comas, etc., but it is a popular style adopted by a lot of authors, of late, including by Patrick Rothfuss, who won the Pen and Quill award. This book has a wonderful flow to it. I believe we wil see a lot of KC Blake.
  • A Job From Hell (Ancient Legends Book 1) on June 06, 2011

An amazing read, I was held in suspense by Jayde Scott's novel, A Job From Hell, from the first page until the last. Set in Scotland, modern day, A Job From hell is about a young woman whose brother helps her to get a job as a housekeeper to fund her way through college, but from the time she steps out of the cab to face the old mansion, you are trying not to chew your nails wondering what will happen next. She is thrown into one suspense filled situation after another, and from the moment she learns who her employer really is, until you turn the last page, this page-turning novel is impossible to put down. I loved reading A job From Hell. I am adding Jayde Scott to my list of favorite authors, and I look forward to catching up on her past novels as much as I am looking forward to her future work. I highly recommend, A Job from Hell, and I easily give it 5 stars.
  • Paradox - Progeny Of Innocence on Jan. 03, 2012

Patti Roberts weaves a wonderful tale of magick and love in her Paradox series. I was pulled in by an 11 year old Grace in the first book, The Angels are Here, who was shattered by the loss her father. Now she is a teen who must find a place in the human world to better understand the spirit world and how to deal with her visions of a young woman who comes from her own past life. Through Patti, you get to travel into the supernatural as fallen angels hunt for Grace, and she begins her journey in the bloom of her life as a young woman getting to know a boy named Damon, all rolled up with learning her way with dealing with spirit. Patti keeps you on the edge of her seat with a very real as you see these fallen angels through her writing and feel Grace's emotions as they come to life through her words. I didn't want to put this book down as I was pulled into Grace's world, and I gave this book 5 stars as a must read!!
  • Voodoo Kiss (Ancient Legends Book 3) on Jan. 24, 2012

Lenore Wolfe's review Jan 24, 12  ·  edit Read in January, 2012 In my review of Doomed, I didn't want to give away the loss Cass was forced to endure, as I felt this was one of the major cliff hangers of Doomed and would have needed a spoiler alert, which I steer clear of, so I'm banking on the fact that everyone has read the first two books of this series before reading this one. Jayde is a wonderful writer, and Voodoo's Kiss was the best one in the series yet. I was creeped out by Gael, and the danger I sensed with him sucked me into the story immediately. In Voodoo's Kiss, Cass needs Sofia to remember her past life as a Voodoo priestess so that she might save her love, who was killed by a vampire in the second book, and break the curse placed on her. You get pulled into this fast paced novel, by Sofia, who keeps getting warned by a crow, can see a demon, one who she's deeply attracted to from the moment she first sets eyes on him, and by the witty Cass, who is a fallen angel, and who is cursed to be a reaper, and then by the vampires from the past books. Throw in lots of wit and humor, and you have one powerful read. But I was also deeply impressed by the depth of emotion that Sophis showed in her grief and the edge of the sanity, insanity we sometimes walk in our grief, and I enjoyed the deeper spiritual meanings woven into this story as well. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves paranormal and fantasy novels alike, and give this series 5 stars as a must read.
