  • The Order of the Four Sons: Book I on June 02, 2013

This was a great read. I read it back when it first came out and just finished re-reading this and Book II because I hear Book III is about to come out. Book I was difficult to put down due to the always coming at you nature of the story. It was like following a special ops team from the Council of Watchers in Buffy. There's a pretty big cast of characters, which I like. My favorite so far is definitely Cecil, just because he's a nice guy. I'm always a fan of nice-guy characters. After him, I'd have to say my favorite is Murphy because he's the funniest, a wisecracking cop. But none of the characters are stereotypes. I've never read a series quite like this before. The villains are figures from history like Elizabeth Bathory, but the authors made her come alive. I really liked all of her chapters. The humor played right into the action seamlessly. It leaves you on a cliffhanger that makes you want to pick up the next one.
  • Carcosa: The Order of the Four Sons, Book II on June 02, 2013

A great sequel to what is becoming one of my favorite series. While changing worlds completely, you have the same familiar characters. This time you get to watch them evolve and their story becomes more in-depth. Still love Murphy, but I love Kate more in this book-- she goes on this crazy mushroom trip. The action is still as nonstop as with the first book, but this one takes the characters into a Wild West setting that they are clearly not prepared for. Can't wait for the third book!
  • Where Flap the Tatters of the King: The Order of the Four Sons, Book III on July 30, 2013

Where Flap the Tatters of the King starts off where Carcosa leaves off. Bringing the entire team together for the first time since the beginning of the first book Order of the Four Sons. This one allows you to learn about some of what were tertiary characters in more depth and brings them into focus. Mainly Alyssa. While she is not the smartest apple on the tree at times, she does get the job done when she needs to. I would say the book focuses mostly on her, but it is well balanced and includes the other characters as well, orbiting in and out of her sphere especially my favorite character Christophe. Every good story needs it's rogue and this story has Christophe, he is everything a rogue should be and then some. I truly hope he makes an appearance in book 4 but I will just have to wait and see. While this is the longest O4S book yet, it doesn't feel that way, when reading it. It is more polished and seems to be a bit more grown up than the last two, all the while being set in a fairy tale setting.
  • West Side Girl & Other Poems on Sep. 15, 2013

I just finished reading "West Side Girl" and was glad I picked it up. Lauren Scharhag, takes one into a world not of just beauty but reality, and fantasy. Speaking of the dead, the hearth, and her own frailties. Her way with words and presentation, especially with the emersion in her Mexican culture, she is nothing short of a modern Frida Kahlo for poetry. If you wish to read book of poetry that will rip your soul out and then let's you gaze in awe at the myriad of colors and spices that it holds this would be that book.
  • The Sacred Heart: The Order of the Four Sons, Book IV on Oct. 06, 2018

The Sacred Heart, picks up right where "Where Flap the Tatters of The King" leaves off. Picking up the pace and sitting you onto a wild ride. This roller coaster is at the peak and about to go rushing down the tracks on a fast and crazy ride! I definitely recommend reading the first three books in the series first. But even if you don't read the others this book still makes for a fun read.
  • Necropolis: The Order of the Four Sons, Book V on Oct. 06, 2018

Necropolis starts off from a different perspective, introducing us to the world of Cerulean. We finally get to meet the bad guys behind all the bad things in the universe it seems. Yet the world they have created appears to be idyllic and peaceful. Mean while when we catch up with the team, they are planning on sabotaging this world full of innocent people. While our O4Ser's are not happy with this, the evil Corbenese have no such qualms. This book really changes things and makes you wonder who's actually on the side of good. This is a very fast pace action packed novel that will be hard to put down however you feel about the characters.
  • Going Forth by Day: The Order of the Four Sons, Book VI on Jan. 03, 2021

The final book of the Order of the Four Sons series masterfully brings all the strings together to weave an amazing tapestry that one will find hard pressed to put down. I loved the journey the characters take, watching them interact and work together to bring down Starry Wisdom. The action scenes are some of the most explosive that I have read in any novel. And the end is just the satisfying cherry on top of the whole sundae! I suggest anyone who is tired of the same old Fantasy/Sci-Fi tropes to just grab all six books and read them straight through.
