Thomas Maluck

Biography

"Is this how an iPod works?" the profile picture asked. It is a staged photo of confusion and experimentation because that is what my first ebook, "Your Only Shiny Thing," represents. It is a collection of poems from the past several years meant to clear my creative slate and allow me to experience the self-publishing ebook process.

I'm a librarian and ebooks represent an industry shift as well as an opportunity to help budding writers in my community. Formatting an ebook in Word was rather painless. I hope to do it many more times in my self-published ventures and encourage others to "clear the slate" of their finished works.

A promising "episode 1" to the series that awaits. Introduces us to the major players around J.D. Mitchell in whatever future he has found, even if he is still putting together the wheres and whos and hows of his existence. Some short-range world-building and tense situations give author Binder a lot of room to breathe and the reader a lot to anticipate. I spent time in Mitchell's head observing characters and not drifting in a sea of history lessons, which is the brand of sci-fi I like.
