Overall I enjoyed this book. I think the first two stories were the strongest and the ones I enjoyed the most. I found this book entertaining, but not very deep. The writing had a lot of typos- so much so that I also had to go back and re-read some parts to get what was going on. The other part I had trouble with was that if felt like I was dropped in the middle of a story, especially so in the last two stories. I do understand that this might be the mystery and what makes this book enjoyable to some, but for me I like a little more build up of new characters, not just having them dropped in and we are supposed to understand and connect with their love of each other. I also skimmed the 'erotica' part as I prefer a love story rather than sex, but what I read of it was decent :) Again, overall a decent story. Thanks for the read!

I had a hard time reading this book due to the choppy and overly descriptive (but not in a good way) writing style. The ideas of these stories were OK but it took a while to get to the actual story due to the descriptions of everything! I felt like I was reading a scene designer's notes rather than a tale. I really wanted to enjoy this book, especially being a member giveaway, but I just had a hard time reading it. Read about 65% of this book.

I enjoyed this book. Good story, good characters, I enjoyed the plot line. I especially liked the ending. Great YA book. I received this book from Member Giveaways and this is my first time reading this author. After reading this book I would definitely read more from this author. Thanks for the read!
  • Tempest (#1 Destroyers Series) on Jan. 06, 2012

I received this book as a Library Thing Member Giveaway. Here is my review: I really liked this book. Unique topic and I enjoyed the character buildup. The action and suspense were written very well. It was a very well paced book. I am a little leery of the believability of hurricanes as humans but I hope with the next book in the series this author will go into more depth of the myths, history and extent to the abilities. This was my first time reading this author, and I would definitely recommend this book. Thanks for the read!

I really enjoyed this book! The beginning was a bit slow, but once you started reading more about the world the author was creating it got more interesting and then the action kicked in and the story picked up from there. The characters were well built and I'm assuming the next book will delve more into the secondary characters and such. I felt this book had that of a love story, adventure story all in a fantastic world with magic and such. If you enjoy these types of books, you should enjoy this story. FYI: I did run into some typos, a few of which did make me confused while reading, so I hope if this is not in print version yet an editor can go through this book and fix these errors. I really liked this book. Gabe is the new kid in town, suffers from a type of epilepsy, is a loner artist who due to all of these reasons gets bullied at school and by his brother. He meets a tough, young girl who lives next door, goes to his school who believes in the witch in the woods. She is interested in Gabe's art and the connection she senses he has with the witch in the woods. Without going into more story detail I will say that the character buildup is great, the story line is unique and any kid who deals with health issues, loner issues, 'unique' issues, bullying can relate. On a personal note, the fact that his health issues and how they effect him and his family are tied into the fantasy aspect of this tale is great. I have a brother who has epilepsy and I will be lending him my eReader so he can read this book. I look forward to reading book two! Great for any young adult who enjoys urban fantasy. Overall, I enjoyed this edition. I'm not going to go into the story line, because that's why you should read the book description and just read it yourself :P Ward gave a nice introduction piece to the lives and types of people in this alternate world showcased in her novel, Promising Light. I originally read Promising Light first then read this edition. I liked the love stories between the main characters Sierra, Sashe, Dar, Evan, Seth and Matilda. I was able to get a better understanding of what happened during this time period before the story starts in Promising Light. The story and the characters were good except I still don't know the reason Matilda didn't like Sierra prior to finale and I don't know why Sashe left to go with the king. I can guess why Sashe left, but when the sisters met up at the end there was no explanation why she left and became a mistress. It just seems like she left to go to the folks that killed her husband. So a little more detail would have been nice and in that way could have made a much better ending. Unfortunately there were writing errors that had to do with mixing the character names. Not sure if that was due to the book version I got (ePub) or if its just my reading it, but I swear that there were at least one character name mix up per 'book.' Due to the multiple character name mess up, I dropped my rating down by one star (my rating 3.5 out of 5). I'd suggest reading Promising Light first, then this version. Reading some other reviewers they were upset with the ending and I'm not sure if its due to the way it was written (like my complaint) or with the book not ending on a happy note. I have read most of this author's work and I do get involved in her stories! Looking forward to reading the next part to this alternate world! Suggested for fantasy romance readers. *Received this book via LibraryThing.com's member giveaway*

I absolutely loved this book! I cannot wait for book #2! :) This was one of the best YA vampire books I've read in a long time. Lots of action, a little romance and a mostly unique storyline. Very well written- I will definitely read this series. Fully recommend for anyone who likes urban supernatural fiction- regardless if its YA or not. I received this book via the Librarything.com member giveaway.
  • Blue Moon CafĂ© Series: Where Shifters Meet for Drinks on June 17, 2013

I liked this collection of short stories that are interconnected. I don't mind short stories and sometimes prefer them to a drawn out novel. If you like paranormal short stories involving shape shifters then I'd recommend this collection. If you don't like short stories then pick up a novel. As a side note, if this author wanted to continue to make a novel based on this world (not a remake of this collection), I'd read it! Received this from LibraryThing.com member giveaway.
