  • What Kills Me on July 29, 2012

I liked the realistic aspect of this fantasy story. At the beginning, the author could almost tell the story of a teenager who goes abroad on holiday and that will exercise poor judgment. Axelia wants to be different from the good girl she is for all to see. She wants to be daring and adventurous, and what better than a fling in Italy, far from her parents and habits, to try new things. Except when one crosses paths with a vampire who wants to empty your body from your blood... I liked the simplicity of the heroin. She just wanted to live a little dangerously and she finds herself the star of an apocalyptic prophecy. Immortal, sentenced to death, forced to drink blood to survive, hunted by mercenaries, her life radically changed and will never be the same again. Between the lines, the reader can decipher the moral weight of an impulsive decision that seemed, at first, innocent and inconsequential. The situation will deteriorate, faster than in a blink of an eye, into a radically transformed life. Throughout the story, it is the feeling I had. Under the first layer of the rather dark fantasy hides the lines of life lessons about trust, betrayal, courage and strength to stay in the light. I also appreciated the brevity of the meetings like in real life ... Sometimes you meet people without getting to know them but that does not prevent you from being emotionaly marked by them. Some will reach you out, others will stick a knife in your back. Thus apart from Axelia and Lucas, all the other characters are crossing briefly the reader's path inside the story or make occasional appearances. As a result, the novel is constantly moving with a lot of rhythm, action and the fights. There are many deaths too. So, If you are looking for a love story like in "Twilight", you are not in the good novel. However, the author without pressing heavily on the romantic card manages to keep you alert and play with your emotions. The ending is also a nice surprise that makes you want to put your hands on the further adventures of Alexia that promises to be radically different. A nice dynamical story that takes you into a crazy race. Lucie newbooksonmyselves.blogspot.fr
  • Mobster's Girl on Oct. 14, 2012

A suivre...
  • Awakening the Mobster (Book 2) on Dec. 13, 2012

The story takes its course where the reader left Megan, Antonio, Vitto and Erin in the previous book. On the run...No time to look back or to dwell on the past. The heroes are already facing new dangers that await them. Explosion, bloody fights, jalousy, nasty betrayal and passion. If the scenery changes as the action moves from the campus of the University of Notre Dame into some streets of Chicago, the protagonists themselves remain the same. A greater part is given to the duo Erin-Vitto. I admit I liked the humor and the playboy side of Vitto from the first part of this series but I have trully fallen under his spell in this second volume... Also a great success in the action full of dynamism. Without dead time, the reader will not get bored. As the story is short, it adds a sense of speed, chain reactions intended by Fatality or Destiny. Less violence while maintaining a great bloodshed and fighting to keep the reader glue to his reading in suspense. In this story, I was again taken into the world of the mafia avoiding the usual clichés and I loved it. I can not wait to read more in the third volume "Mobster's Vendetta" ... • Wolf Sirens Forbidden: Discover the Legend (Wolf Sirens #1) on Jan. 26, 2014

A dark atmosphere, secrets and a forbidden love. Everyone was waiting for Lila. Everyone watches Lila. Everyone expects something from Lila. After moving from the city, Lila is in the dark about a lot of things and walking on eggshells to discover the many secrets surrounding the clique and the city of Shade. Waiting is a very well developed theme. Not in a boring way that make us want to turn away from the story rather the opposite. The details are subtly disclosed to pique the reader's interest and make him want to know, if Cresida is really mad or on drugs, to discover the motivations behind Sam's suspicious friendship and why Sky is so cold towards Lila. Ok, I confess that the last part is the main reason, I've been eagerly turning the pages... Even when Lila will be approached by Reid and will discover she's dating a werewolf, the story is not going to lose its plot in favor of the romance. In fact, the girl's feelings are more ones of curiousity about the wolves, their modes of operation and their stories that one occupied by hormones. However, her obsession with Sky lead it on an eventful end. I confess that I would have liked more passion and emotions. I did not sigh while reading about the love triangle or about the forbidden one, so I was a little dissapointed. But I understand that this first volume was used by author to introduce the characters and the plot. Personally, the story won me over thanks to all the secrets. My curiosity will be the end of me! Lol I liked the universe proposed by Tina Smith and I really want to discover more about Lila and its new future in "Fever".
