Smashwords book reviews by Mark McDonough

  • Dragon Tide on Oct. 10, 2011

I always love these Liaden short stories and getting to see and understand some aspects of the characters that Lee and Miller have created and these stories are no different. Here we get to find out more about Kareen and to see the dragon in her.
  • Misfits on Oct. 10, 2011

Brilliant! Excellent! Superb! An action-packed telling of a major event in Miri's life, but as seen through the eyes of an outside character. Let's hope that these stories just keep on coming.
  • Halfling Moon on Oct. 10, 2011

These are another two fantastic stories that truly enhance the story of Korval. I'm off to reread Ghost Ship again now that I know more of what else has been happening in the Liaden universe.
  • Skyblaze on Oct. 10, 2011

Another of Lee and Miller's wonderful work in the Liaden Universe. This time a tale of how the actions of the main characters in their stories have affected the universe in which they inhabit. Well done.
  • Necessary Evils on Oct. 18, 2011

Here are two more wonderful stories set in the Liaden universe. I greatly enjoyed the chance to read some more about Daav's early life and to see the universe that Lee and Miller have created.
  • Allies on Oct. 18, 2011

Lee and Miller are masters at hooking the reader and taking them into their character's world. Here, once again, they've used their short stories to "fill in the gaps" in episodes in both Miri and Val Con's lives. And getting to see Hakan and Kem again on Vador is especially wonderful.
  • Eidolon on Oct. 18, 2011

I greatly enjoyed reading these two chapbooks. Pat Rin has always been one of my favourite characters and to get to read more of his adventures is wonderful. Reading about a meddlesome Val Con is always a delight. More, more, more please!
