This is the second book I have read by this talented author and is the prequel to In too Deep and yet again takes us into the world that Ms.rivers has created populated with werewolves, vampires and fae. In this book we learn how the mating of Alpha Slater and psychic Jess came to fruition. Theirs is a tangled journey beset with misunderstandings and surrounded by jealousy and danger. I loved this book and if possible even preferred it slightly as I feel her writing style is really coming into its own. The characters almost jump off the page and its impossible not to like both the leads.Secondary characters are also more than just two dimensional and personally I would love the o so enigmatic fae sheriff to get his own book. I would rate this as a 5 and can't wait to read more about the inhabitants of Edenton as they have such hot exciting lives!
