Michael Loyd Gray

Biography

Michael Loyd Gray is the author of the novel The Canary, a Pushcart Prize nominee (2013) revealing Amelia Earhart's final days. His novel Exile on Kalamazoo Street was released in 2015 by Coffeetown Press. He is also the author of the novel Not Famous Anymore, 2011, which was awarded a grant by the Elizabeth George Foundation, and the novels, Well Deserved (2008 Sol Books Prose Series Prize) and King Biscuit (Tempest, 2012). Gray won the 2005 Alligator Juniper Fiction Prize and the 2005 The Writers Place Award for Fiction. He earned a MFA from Western Michigan University, a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois, and has taught at colleges and universities in Illinois, Texas, and New York. For nearly ten years he was a staff writer for newspapers in Arizona and Illinois. Big orange cats, the Chicago Bears, and the Rolling Stones are among the constants in his life.
