I am a fan of Clare's writings. This book though has really pulled me in and I could not stop until I had finished it. It is the story of a love that connects suddenly (love on the first sight) and builds up continuously until the very end (of the book). The setting is a city/state at the brink of civil war and revolution against the ruling queen (seated in the lower city). By betrayal the hardship increases and threatens the whole upper city. Our heroines cling to their love and being together even risking all to give the upper city a chance. The end lets me hope for a second book.
