I was very surprised by this novel. There were points where I actually laughed out loud. The characters were endearing and the although covering some underlyingly serious social issues, the story felt fresh. I found this a thoroughly enjoyable read. Thumbs up.

This was a truly fun story to read. It is written with a strong voice and has a space-opera feel that reminds me of Isaac Asimov's "Lucky Star" books.

I appreciated the character development and found the family dynamics in this story insightful. I loved the anthropologic perspective the main character brought to this story. Additionally, the creatures in this story are just fascinating.
