I was born in Jamaica in the Caribbean. I now live in Toronto, Canada. I am the author of novels Brown Girl in the Ring, Midnight Robber, The Salt Roads, The New Moon's Arms, and The Chaos. I am a recipient of the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, The World Fantasy Award, and the Sunburst Award for Canadian Literature of the Fantastic.
