What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Opening up new worlds and impossible situations. It's about the fun of escapism for me, which is why nothing I write is ever on Earth - or on Earth for very long. It's the very same reason I read genre fiction. Likewise, I hope to provide other people with that same joy. Knowing that somewhere, someone had a great time reading one of my books - that's a win for me.
What are you working on next?
While I have other big works that I'm going to try and land an agent and actual publishing house for (it's still kind of like a goal for me to get into the bookstores that way and to think, "Ha! I've done it!"), right now I'm sticking with the Figments Fables because they're fun. I've always loved Grimm's Fairy Tales and fractured fairy tails, so playing with a few ideas of my own is a good time. The present project is a take on The Little Mermaid (granted, not Grimm's stories, but still a well-known one), and am toying with a Robin Hood one as well. There's plenty to choose from, so we'll see what happens next after that.
