I have been an ESL teacher in Hong Kong since 2002. Prior to that I have worked in the education field in Australia , UK and China.
I was the writer and creator of Ming the Minibus books which was turned into a cartoon series shown in many countries around the world.
The book is designed to bring the problem of "inattentive blindness" to young children. It was written after seeing a young student walk into a steel lamp post while watching a movie on her mobile phone. The story hopes to draw attention to the dangers associated with the distraction mobile devices are creating among all sections of the population. Hopefully it will increase awareness in children.
The book is written to teach children about the dangers of pollution and the need to be green. The idea was originally developed to teach young children about the air pollution problems facing Hong Kong and China.
The book draws attention to poaching which is a problem all students should be thinking about if we are to save the worlds animals.
I think the book is suitable for reading by young students as it shows cooperation by people as the key to the survival of endangered species.

on June 23, 2013
The author has described the behaviour and has provided a great understanding as to why it occurs and what the Chinese Government and tour group organisers need to do.
The sheer numbers of these tourists is going to impact on tourism around the world and the impact is going to be negative.
This book should be read by every travel comapny in China and every chinese tourists who travel with these groups.
