I'm always looking for a great read, and I was pleasantly surprised with Eagles in the Flesh! My favorite stories are filled with adventure and novelty ideas, and this book gave me just that. It opens up with this riveting description of hang gliding, and it just gets crazier from there! These guys can actually become birds, and journey to places people can only dream of. I liked how it did not completely encompass sky life, but also gave imagery of life below (also filled with adventure.) This book really reminded me of “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” with the imagery, and the book “Into the Air” with how action packed it was. My favorite line had to be: “I used to need to bond with people, but now I try to bond with crows. I used to fear being alone, but now alone is fulfilling. It seems that alone is where I can let my feelings be felt and my mind to melt.” (Page 128) Eagles in the Flesh gave a new perspective on travel which can only be seen through a bird eye. It has some minor adult themes in it, but is honestly great for any young adult. The author Erik Kaye did a great job and I can't wait to read another book with that kind of adventure writing.
