Smashwords Interview

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
It has to be creating the worlds and characters. Bringing something from tiny "seed" in my mind to a greater than life character in a written world for others to enjoy. After I write the books, I have even more fun designing my own character art!
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords is my favorite platform. It has helped gain readers by allowing me to use coupons for giveaways, blog tours, and gifts. It has also expanded my reach to other major platforms where I may not have been able to sell before. I especially love that you need to have at least purchased a book to leave a review on the Smashwords page.

Smashwords book reviews by Shannon McRoberts

  • Light & Dark: The Awakening of the Mageknight on Aug. 24, 2012

This was a wonderful adventure and I can't wait to see the second book come out. When the author contacted me to do a book review I thought what the hay! This isn't usually the type of book I read as far as main character, age, etc. But wow....I could not put this down. It is very well written and obvious that the author takes care in writing. I was excited that this was the first review I got to do on my new kindle! It is worth every penny you spend on it. It is also suitable for young adults. No smut or extreme violence.

I was asked to review this book. I did not look at the summary but simply cracked open the ebook and began reading. I was very surprised by this book and really enjoyed the entire thing. It was just the right length and the tension between the main female and male character really feeds into the story. It is a fun sci fi story the has a lot of well written twists and turns. I would highly recommend it.
  • Henrietta The Dragon Slayer on Jan. 21, 2013

This was a very interesting read. I am all about kick butt heroines and this one had two strong leads. This is pure fantasy! I hear tale that another one is being published and I am ready for it. Very suitable for YA and I love the lost king tale. I think I liked it a little better than Hunger Games. (I received a free e-copy for an honest review)
  • Horizon on Feb. 16, 2013

This was a short story about the intricate nature of marriage and having partners that want to try new things, but one is having to be persuaded as each have their own ideas. My only thing is that it was too short. However, for a free short story what does one expect. It wets the appetite. I think this story is enough to get you to see Kayla's style and be interested in the other works available. I would think this would be a great right before bed read, not too long, not too short, and lots of interesting things to dream about :0)
