As a legal nurse consultant who has worked with attorneys Over the past 24 years, I have seen thousands of people injured by the healthcare system, and I want to share information to help you become a more confident patient advocate for yourself and your loved ones. I am an authority on the topic of nursing and medical malpractice. I am passionate about educating the public about how they can be informed patients and advocates to help those they love stay healthy. I would like to see more people in the world be able to speak up to avoid being injured by medical errors. This book can help.
I gained an international reputation as a knowledgeable legal nurse consultant (a specialized field of nursing that involves using medical knowledge to help attorneys handle cases with medical issues.) I spent 5 years on the board of directors of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consulting, including one year as president. My involvement with medical malpractice cases forms the foundation for this book and for the courses and programs I have taught nurses, physicians, attorneys, and paralegals about patient safety both in the United States and abroad.
I have coedited or authored more than 130 books, chapters, case studies, articles and online courses. As president of Med League Support Services, Inc., a legal nurse consulting firm, I have extensive experience working with medical malpractice attorneys, which includes testifying as an expert witness in nursing malpractice cases as well as in other cases.
