The first story I have read by Kelly. It's good, a pretty conventional western, a genre I enjoy. There are good characters, good story. Some authors are good at story, some at character development. Kelly is good at both.
I really enjoyed this story. It's a good old fashioned ghost tale. I liked the characters, they seemed real, and I sympathized with the troubles that the kids had, even beyond the civil war ghost soldiers. Nicholson writes well, and pulls you into the story, as well as the people's lives in the story.
Fuchs is an excellent writer. I have enjoyed his stories before and I liked this one. This is not Axiom Man's first adventure, however. I did not know that, so I did not know the background story that this story referred to frequently. I will get that one and I bet I will enjoy that one too,
