About 2 years ago my periods started to become irregular, followed quite quickly by hot flushes and night sweats – I did have a moment of madness at one stage, and thought I might be pregnant, but once I realised it was the menopause I did some research to find out what was in store for me. To be perfectly honest I didn’t really know too much about the menopause, I hadn’t given it much thought, apart from, I knew it was something that was going to happen in the future and then all of a sudden my future was here.
Anyway, I started to make notes, spoke to several doctors and began to adjust my diet and exercise routine. Being a trained clinical nutritionist and exercise consultant, I did have knowledge in this area, I just needed to change it slightly to fit in with my body’s new requirements.
As my knowledge and notes grew over time, it dawned on me that there must be so many women who are in the same position. They suddenly find themselves in menopause without a clue as to what is happening. Women don’t prepare for menopause like they would do for pregnancy, they don’t spend months and months waiting for it to happen – it just seems to happen.
Hopefully my book will help women, who like me, woke up one day, connected all the dots and realised they were in menopause and weren’t quite sure where to go from there
