I enjoyed this book a lot, and i am in my (early) twenties. This book is about a girl in middle school who just cant seem to stop doing embarrassing things, or making herself look stupid. She is also the only "like" the only person in the 6th grade who has not gotten a "hot ticket"- a ticket that is given out to students secretly in their lockers for doing or wearing something "cool". Even her friends who are a lot less popular than her are getting more than one ticket, which makes her feel so uncool. She goes on a mission to figure out who the maker(s) of the hot tickets are and who is dispencing the tickets into the lockers. She feel that if she can figure out who it is she will be the most popular 6th grade student and maybe even a spread in the yearbook! I wont say too much more, but this is a quick fun read. I finished it within a few days, and i loved it!

I really enjoyed reading this book. Though, I wish it were a little longer, and we got to find out what happens after the end of the story. This book is about a teenage girl who lives in New Orleans. Her family is very disfunctional. Her Mother is terribly depressed after a miscarraige, and stays up in her room all day. Her father is a jobless drunk, who is too proud too take a minimum wage job- and unable to pay their bills. Her brother is hanging out with the wrong crowd, and having his sister tag along. He thinks he is being a good brother, protecting her, but in reality he is showing her the harshness and the crulity of the world. I don't want to say exactly what happens, because in just a few paragraphs I could tell you the whole story and ruin it for you! But this is basically a coming of age story (like the rest of the reviews say) of a girl trying to find her spot in this world, and clinging onto all the bad things, not knowing the difference, and not having anyone to show her better. She facing things that most people never have to experience in their lives. And in the end, all the bad influences start to rub off on her, and she makes a decision that will effect her the rest of her life. I really hope that the Author makes a sequal to this book. I really enjoyed it and hope that I get to find out why the things that happened, happened. And also the outcome of everything. I would have given this book 5 stars, but I gave it 4 because at the end it really left things hanging, not knowing what to think.

I really enjoyed this book, and it was very hard to put down! At first the discription doesnt do it much justice, bit once you read it, its well worth it. This book was MUCH better than i expected it to be! It was great! The main character, Jon Rupret, is a parking officer (he's one of the guys that puts those tickets on your windsheild, and calls to have your car towed). At first I see him to be arrogant and mean, but after a wile he kind of starts to grow on you, and you start to get the feel of his sense of humor. He's annoying, but likable, and he's good at heart. Jon get put onto a new division, a drug squad, who are trying to find "RACE". "RACE" is a group of people who are making a new drug called "nex", which is going to be the next best drug. A drug that will be used by anyone and everyone, and this drug will let RACE control the entire city. Of course Jon, being the guy he is, figures he will be the one to stop this group and in effect, stop the production of this new drug "nex". It doesn't exactly work out as he plans though. As he says in the book, it looks much easier on tv. We get to see Jons view of the investigation, and what he does to try to make an impact. We also get a glance into RACE in some chapters, which makes the storytelling much more intresting. This is a book I could not put down. I loved that it wasnt some "hero " book, its just a regular guy, doing his job. He is a guy some of us can relate to- not some superhero cop (even though Jon make think that is what he is!). I did think there were a LOT of characters, and it did get a little confusing at times to keep track of everyone. Maybe if i were able to get to know a little more about each one I would have been able to follow along a little better. But other than that I loved the plot of this book, its new and original. And i loved the main characters. This is a pretty fast read- or at least it was for me, seeing as i couldnt put it down. I would recomend taking the time to read this.
