I have been working at becoming a writer almost my whole life. I started writing short stories when I was 12 years old. I went to school to study journalism and worked for a small newspaper for eight years. But fiction will always be my first love.
The stories in my first book, Eyes Open at Dawn, each have their own unique ideas behind them, but most of them contain a message that's important to me. And if you don't like messages, they're well-hidden inside a package of fun and excitement.
In fact, the first one was so fun and exciting that I spun it off into its own secondary book, Hanson and Kripter: From End to Beginning. In that, I further explore the alien world of detectives Hanson and Kripter.
I also have an ongoing series called the Katie Carter Mystery Series, which has over 10 volumes and is geared primarily toward youth and families, although it did have its own murder mystery added to the set recently. Katie is a spunky amateur detective who solves all sorts of crimes with the help of her family and friends.
Currently, I'm working on my first full-length novel, a fantasy tale of magic, mystery, and mayhem. Wizards, vampires, and fairies populate this world, and something is destroying the very fabric of magic itself, leaving behind nothing but mundane ordinariness. A pair of twins, both named Alexis Knight, have been prophesied to be the saviors of magic, but just getting through magic school is proving to be a major obstacle. I'm planning to release it this summer.

One of my favorite columnists on Cracked, and he's written a book. I had to get it, and I'm glad I did. It's not often a book makes me laugh, but this one succeeded. I'm only sorry it's not longer.
