Randall Broad

Biography

Randall Broad is the Founder of Opal Enterprises, Inc., published author, professional speaker, and a stage III lung cancer survivor. Since his diagnosis three years ago, he has presented his message of Living an Extraordinary Life and Not Missing It to medical students, corporations, church’s and associations around the world. He believes we all possess the ability to lead extraordinary lives and with this theme has captivated and inspired thousands in the process. His message strikes a chord in all of us to live each and every day and focus on the aspects of our lives we are in control of and make them extraordinary in the process.

Following his yearlong cancer treatment, he authored the book, ‘It’s an Extraordinary Life – Don’t Miss It’. Having been given a less than optimal prognosis and with two teenage children to raise, he felt compelled to pen some of his life learned lessons and pass along such knowledge should he not be available to guide his children personally. The outcome is a mixture of life adventures and business anecdotes; funny, poignant, touching, and above all, purposeful.

Whether it be missing a once in a lifetime snow filled sled day with his kids, jumping out of two story window as Jeff Daniels stunt double, starting and running a business, or experiencing a miracle, his stories will interest the listener, guide the audience, and leave them with a lasting memory that our lives are truly nothing less than extraordinary. His book and message has been compared as a cross between ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ and ‘The Last Lecture’.
Prior to publishing his book and speaking on its contents, Randall founded and oversaw the day to day operations of Opal Enterprises, Inc. A high tech marketing firm specializing in relationship marketing; in the years he ran this company, Opal had over 40 consecutive profitable quarters. A business legacy he attributes to being nimble, flexible and most of all, listening to his customers and adapting to their needs and reinventing themselves throughout the company’s history. He sold the company in 2005 yet maintains the naming rights and continues to consult his client’s on a regular basis.
Born and raised in Seattle Washington, Randall graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 1978. He and his son and daughter, Riley and Emily reside in Kirkland Washington.
