Rebecca Young

Biography

Rebecca Young has written several young adult novels. Her latest include Abducted: The Middle of Nowhere and To See Before I Die.

Young has also written five books of monologues and two books of ten-minute scenes for young actors.

Regarding her inspiration for the 500+ monologues so far, she says, “I have three girls, two of which are still teenagers, one just barely out of that age range. It’s all about comedy and tragedy around my house. Believe me, there’s not much else in between.” Friends and family (she won’t dare say who), television, and just a plain old overactive imagination help Rebecca create a wide array of monologues to choose from.

In addition to monologues and plays, Rebecca writes picture books, midgrade and young adult novels.

Rebecca currently works in a totally “non-dramatic” profession as a technical trainer in Lexington, Kentucky. She has a BA in Communications/Marketing from the University of Kentucky.

Ms. Young lives with her husband (Frank), three wonderful and dramatic daughters (Heather, Kristina, and Ashley), and two cats (who have names but are more often than not called IBK (itty bitty kitty) and Gray kitty).

Whether you are an actor or a writer, she suggests this quote as a daily mantra: “You aren’t finished when you lose; you are finished when you quit.”

Never give up hope.
