  • Republic: A Novel of America's Future on March 14, 2011

This is not the typical type of book or story that I like. But the characters were so real I could see them and cried for them. I could see how and why the fiction could be real if we are not careful. I hated some of the characters. Like President,HDS agents. their misuse of power.I cared for a lot of the characters and none had a happy ending with so much death around them. the book was well written and I could not put it down. It wrung out my emotions. How greed and power can corrupt is scarry.
  • Remedy (A story of Aligare) on March 18, 2011

  • Gifts and Consequences on Aug. 13, 2011

Well the last chapter took me awhile to read because I used a lot of tissue. It was a good lesson did not agree with everything but made me think and care and feel, Jonathan is almost a billionare shy a few million. When his wife got alltimers in her early 40's he sold all his property and closed down his busness at the peak. Susan asked him to always remind her that he was her husband. told Jonathan thier was so much good he could do in her name that she could not do anymore. So Jonathan does not believe in giving anything without a return. So if he hears someone say they would walk across the US and back if thier was away to save his wife. Jonathan would give him a chance to see if he really would do it but if he agreed and quit thier would be a penalty. Most kept thier promises and Jonathan kept his word always. He ended up with a lot of employees to help him keep track and to find those that needed help and where willing to do things to get it. One young woman cat needed surgery and offered to volunteer at vets office in exchange for it. The vet did not take her up on it, but Jonathan did. She volunteered at Humain society for a year and now works for Jonathan. The people who kept their word got what they asked for and learned life lessons in return. I was touched by this story in so many ways. I would read more of Daniel work. I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review.
  • Jockeys and Jewels on Aug. 19, 2011

I was kept in the story. Good see the races and horses. Kurt is a horse trainer and his horse is about to race when he gets a call. He looks at who's calling and finds his old boss Archer from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He quit 11 months ago to be a full time horse trainer. He was tired of going undercover all the time. Archer said,"They needed him on this case as a horse trainer and not to take his good horses. His old partner Connor had been murdered. He had stopped to help a horse trailer and after followed him to the track. He talked to a jockey named Julie West. The trailer belonged to Otto Laing." So Kurt left his good horses and took a new horse to teach the gate too. and a Horse that looked good but had lost all of his races so far. Also took Cisco his work horse. He is across the barn with his horses to Otto's horse but he cant see that horse because its blocked off so no one can bother it. Otto horse hates him. Kurt offers Julie to ride his horse in the mornings and see how well she does at her first race before deciding who will be jockey for the race. Kurt fits in because he is a real trainer and no one knows he is a cop. It shows the world of racing. How hard undercover can be with all the lying. I enjoyed reading Jockeys and Jewels and look forward to reading more books from Bev. I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review.

  • Vampire Assassin (Jane #1) on Aug. 25, 2011

Its hard to rate some books. This one starts talking about this guy Bob what he looks like and talking to his misstress and it would take him an hour to get home. Then she describes how fast vampires can walk. Then follow into his garage and kills him and how and why. I really did not like much of the first part of story. But then she talks more about her life and when she met her co-worker on a film and they fell for each other. The rest of story got me caring about Jane and Steven. I ended up shedding tears I was into the story. I would read more about Jane and see how much I liked that book if their is a next one. I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review.
  • Transfection on Aug. 25, 2011

Dr. Carl Peters worked at a university in a lab and was eccentric. His only friend was assistant Jim Glover. Carl spent more time in the lab than he did at home. He worked with genetic modification food. It tells how much he obssessed with work and science till he lost everything and he knows part of it was his fault for the choices he made. It shows him spireling down and up. That you need to work on more than one aspeck at a time. Also shows greed and how science studies can be made into less than truethful ways. The story was a little hard with the science for me to follow but it was good. Just not a story I would pick up and read again. I was given the short story in exchange for honest review.
  • Ovolution and Other Stories on Sep. 03, 2011

I was given this ebook in exchange for hoest review.
  • Restless Highways on Sep. 29, 2011

Restless Highways is a little scary. I made the mistake at starting at 12:30am Home alone. after the first four stories I had to stop and read something lighter. One story is about a romance writer who starts to get a idea for a slasher type book and starts writing late at night than realizing what she is writing tears it up and slasher guy comes and murder her because she did not write his story. a couple goes to garage sale out in the country down a driveway loaded with sale items but no cars or people around. finally owners come out and try to get male to go with him out back to see old cars. Then gets the couple to see stuff inside as they go they shut garage doors. the couple feel uneasy. also a short story that is a prelude to longer book about a guy who has been wandering for 500 years. His wife keeps being reborn different times but God of death wants her. He protects her now she is reborn again. Good be a good book to read in the future. I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review.

  • Three Girls and a Baby on Nov. 10, 2011

It's scary to think your alone and having a baby. I enjoyed Ginny and her good friends Annie and Jen. The story kept moving right along and to advance it. Would have little snippets about stage of pregnacy or what the baby should be doing now. Ginny had a lot of changes the last year, she moved back to her hometown, broke up with longtime boyfriend Josh, graduated collage, moved in with friends from collage. Then finding out on one of those visits with Josh whom she still loved she got pregnant. Ginny did not want to tell him or her parents and kept putting it off until too late. Josh changed his number and moved to a different state with fiance and did not want to see or hear about a baby. Ginny had to deal with depression over breakup and then fired. Her friends were really their for her as she turned her life around. I would read more books by Rachel. Liked the dialogs yes some was cheesy but good. I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review from librarything.

Not as well if I bought a audio cd but it let me listen to the book while I was able to do other things at same time. I think I am going to do this a lot and be more productive and read more books than I can do other wise. Roman Solaire gets things done, he does not work for any goverment and does what he thinks is right. He took months to figure out how to get a key off one person by being a waiter and by helping custome lifted key from around his neck. But later pictures showed of him doing it and he was blackmailed into doing another job with expenses paid. He took them up on that. It was a well written story that made it easy to follow Romain and made sense of how he set himself up to get the information he wanted. I will read more of his books or listen to them. It kept my attention in the story. I was given this ebook from librarythings in exchange of honest review.
  • Effie At The Wedding on Dec. 29, 2011

Review:Effie at the wedding by tracy Marchini 4 STARS This is a very short story. Deals with Effie at her big sister's wedding. I can see this story could be real. Effie is always counting down 3 reasons why or why not how she feels about something. Like what she does like about the groom and three reasons she is not happy her sister is getting married. She is dealing with some real issues. How she feels about her weight how her mom feels about her weight. I would read more of Tracy's work. it is easy to follow, seams real, clean now swearing or sex scenes. I wash given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Librarythings.
  • Tyler Palewhite:Soft-Boiled Detective on Dec. 30, 2011

Friday, December 30, 2011Review: Tyler Palewhite: Soft-Boiled Detective by Joseph valentinetti 4 STARS I liked it but is not a book I will reread again. The characters took awhile for me to care about them. Tyler is a salesman who is always toward the bottom in sales. Tyler is always making excuses why that is. Plus he is always asking his friend to cover for him. Tyler wants to be a writer in fact he wrote one detective book and sent it off to lots of publishers. No short stories or articles just the one novel. It keeps on comming back rejected. Tyler gets the idea to fake being a real detective to help sell his book. He then uses sales training to sell himself. He makes business cards, stationary and advertises. He starts getting a few cases that he does find the people by using computers. Then he gets cases that he bumbles through and with his friends gets over his head in trouble. The ending was okay but I wanted a little bit more from it. I was given this book from the author in exchange of honest review from librarythings.

  • Solo on March 01, 2012
    (no rating)
5 STARS I love getting to read new authors work and the surprises that are in store. Solo is a well told story that I was lost in. I love the town it was set in. My in-laws are from that area so I could picture the area pretty good. Eliana two months left in the school year gets told that her dad is called to deploy for a year and that she and her mom where going to move in with her parents for that year in Oregon. Eliana is having a hard time with the move to small town and doesn't want to get involved with anything. Casey a junior is very welcoming to her and they have 4 classes together. After gym class Eliana goes to change into levis and can't find her clothes. she is upset that her last class she has to wear short gym shorts. She ends crying in study hall. Cute guy gives her tissue. Sasha is popular cheerleader who is Casey's friend who took her cloths, thinks she so special. Eliana after a week sitting with Casey and her friends for lunch decides not to eat with them and make Casey have to choose. Eliana loves to run and One day as she was running a truck almost ran her down she fell aways down a hill. It was Lucas the cute guy in study hall. He felt bad and was shaken gave her a ride home. Lucas was trying to be her friend. Eliana at a view point saw a meadow and mapped her way to it one day and after that she would spend a lot of her time alone dancing and doing gymnastic tumbling for her own pleasure. No one knew she went their. Lucas asked her to prom and she agreed to go with hijm as friends only and tried to not to get attached to him. The relationships are pretty intertwined with most of the people living in the town most of their lives. Sasha and her boyfriend continued to spread trouble and rumors about Eliana. Eliana took the high road but decided to show her up on the talent show, I cared about the characters and wanted to know more about them. I would more stories by Sarah. • Xenofreak Nation, Book One: XBestia on March 14, 2012

5 STARS Xenofreak Nation grabs your attention right off in the first chapter and keeps it. You are never sure who you trust or what will happen next. Bryn is watching her father speech as he rails against all Xenofreaks and on her way back to her car she is kidnapped by 4 Xenofreaks and taken to a place where the lot of them live. Bryn I liked and wanted her life to be better. So many things happen to her in this book. She has a wide range of emotions but does not let her stop or give up no matter what. Xenofreaks have grafts of animal parts on them and circuts. Cougar had parts of his fingers taken off and replaced with cougar paws & claws. some have small parts like part of mouse or wings and one has a wolf face. It is a whole bunch of underground surgeries and society. The worst group XBestia also has a bunch of illeagal activities. Like smuggling drugs, animals ,cloning, kidnapping and bank robberies. The animal rights group are too extreme too. Thier is so much violence as people are predjudiced. Would not like to live in this time and place. Legacy- Book One of the Balancer by chris adonn 4 STARS This is mostly told in a book about James life through the decades to Kat his future relative. James tells her a lot about different spieces of the supernatural world that he comes into contact with. The only real problem I had with the book it was too long for me I was ready for this book to be done with a lot sooner. Plus I ended up crying in a few places! James explains his normal life than to go on as he discovers that he is a Balancer and the different powers he has. What he learns to do and how he feels about certain people in his life. Wolf is his friend and who teaches him a lot about being a balancer and how the two of them are different from other ones like themselves. Another good friend is a vampire Bas. He also tells about his two different familys and what happens to them. Because James lives long lives their is a lot to tell. It is really easy to read and follow along in the book. • Project Moses - An Enzo Lee Mystery Thriller on March 29, 2012

Review:Project Moses by Robert B. Lowe 5 STARS Project Moses is a Mystery Thriller that is scary that some of it could happen with all the science being discovered. I did not want to put it down till I had finshed reading it. Its a good length of a book. I have to admit crying at part of the story. Enzo Lee writes fluff pieces for San Francisco newspaper for the last two years. His boss just assigned him to cover a prosecutor death. Enzo does not want it and I thought he was not much of an investigator. Then he is asked to cover a Judge Miriam Gilbert's death in her office she is found the next morning. They did not know yet what she had died from but the prosecuter and the Judge were just on a case that ended in a hung jury. The next day the Judge's niece Sarah Armstrong comes to talk to Lee about her Aunt the judge and as she is leaving the newpaper building she is runover by a hit and run that seamed aimed at her. Lee was a witness to it and took her home from the hospital and to his place because he did not like all these deaths happening. The more that Lee and Sarah find out about the deaths they find lots more accidents have happened accross the country. Lee is being set up on a drug charge but he is warned by the police detective who was investigating the judge death till it was taken over by Feds. Two lawyers that went to law school and argued against Sarah and her friend the dead prosecuter where also killed by mysterous deaths. One of the deaths was Brent Donsen who worked as prosecuter for Justice department. Finding what he was looking at opens a lot of information. Brent was actually the first death in New York than is buddy in florida and than the deaths in San Francisco. Thier is a lot of science about gene splicing to help the food supply but than you see how that same technology is used to wipe out crops of certain areas and animals. The story is well told and kept my attention on the story. I would read more books by Robert in the future based on this book. • Aaron & Keja: Time Dragon (Orgarlan Saga: Book 1) on May 11, 2012

Review: Aaron & Keja: Time Dragon by Linda Nelson 4 STARS I listened to Aaron & Keja on my kindle and admit I did get lost a few times and had to go back and read. Thier was a lot of different characters in this story Aaron is one of the humans in this story. She can hear and talk to different animals. Keja is her dog. Orc's are the good people. On thier world it is against the law to kill dragons. Elves want to kill a time dragon and harness its power so they send it to a different world where they plan to hunt and kill' the dragon. Orc's follow the elves and the dragon to save the dragon. Thier is a prophecy and both the elves and orc's think its about Aaron. I am not sure what the prophecy was about. Aaron and two human friends were kidnapped by the elves. Lots of animals work together to help them. I was given this ebook and asked to read it and give honest review from Librarything.
  • Witch Book (Orgarlan Saga: Book 2) on May 14, 2012

5 STAR I enjoyed the second book much better than the first book. Three cousins live with thier Aunt Grecha in the jungle learning magic. Monika is her favorite niece and is learning how to make a binding cloth to bind an imp. It will be an important ceremony if she can do it right and an embrassment if she cannot. Wenda has already passed this level but chose to bind a hawk over an imp demon. Darmin was not taught how to make one. She does not know why her Aunt quit teaching her and Monika is her favorite. She watches in secret as Monika makes her binding cloth. Then sneaks down at night and makes her own but thier is not quite enough of the silver thread. She finshes her and then trades hers with Monika's cloth. At the ceremony Monika fails to catch an imp and she is the last in the circlem when a bigger imp appears. Everyone laughs at her and no one believes that was not the cloth she had made. In fact the next day her Aunt tells her she can no longer teach her magic at all. Monika decides to leave her Aunt house and leaves following the jungle path. The two books only talks a little about the humans from another world and that it is important for Monika to help Aaron. Darmin dreams of being more powerful than Ky'debaul and wants to be his queen. I guess the next book would have the characters from both books mix more. Have to wait and see I guess. They were bikers and had a lot of parties. Cal was popular with the girls and slept around without making any promises. Calie was trying to stay away from him the exact oppisite he was used too. Calie helped Cal rescue his brothers pit bull from being killed by calming all the dogs in the shelter so they could rescue him. Calie loved animals and good change thier moods easliy. Their is lots of drama in Calie's life trying to fit in a modern school, living with her Aunt and her boyfriend. Her powers start to change. Cal and Calie are getting really close. Cal feels different about Calie than he has anyone else. Then Cal finds out about a group that Calies parents belonged too. Someone else found out that Calie existed and wants her for his sceince experiments. More drama of a different kind then happens in the story. I really enjoyed it thier was a short love scene that did not get graphic but I don't like it when everyone takes it for granted. At first glance you don't think Cal and his brother are the good guys. But the more you know you see how much they care about each other and thier good side. This I believe the second book I have read from Derrolyn Anderson and it won't be the last one. I was contacted by the author and given this ebook with a request to give it honest reviews when I finshed.
  • The Mystery of Smugglers Cove (The Mystery Series, Book 1) on Nov. 07, 2012

The Mystery of Smugglers Cove by Paul Moxham 4 STARS The Mystery of Smugglers Cove is book 1 in the Mystery series by Paul Moxham. It is set in 1950 England. Joe and his sisters are staying in Smugglers Cove for the summer since thier house in London had a bad fire in it. So they can't stay thier untill its repaired. Will tells them that Smugglers Cove used to have lots of smugglers using caves and tunnels coming up into peoples houses. That was how they got the name of the town. The children think it will be fun to check out the caves and explore the area together. I will look forward to reading future books in the series to come. Let Slip the Dogs of War: A Bard's Bed & Breakfast Mystery #1 by Sara M. Barton 4 STARS This is a complicated mystery story. A lot of set up into the begining about how the bed and breakfast came to be a place for spys to vacation or meet ect. I can see with this set up many books good be set their. While Beatrice is making up a room her pets find a dead body under the bed. She calls her husband and using code lets him know she found a dead body. Bea and Ben then get into a comedy to get the body hidden before anyone sees it. Then the body is stolen from them. The story has a lot of humor and a lot of scary spy world out thier. • Snow White and the Hunter: A Gabby Grimm Fairy Tale Mystery #1 on Dec. 08, 2012

5 STARS So this is the third book by Sara Barton that I have read this weekend. I am still willing to read more of Sara's work. This is the first book in the Gabby Grimm Fairy tale Mystery series. It is different from her Bard Bed & Breakfast. Gabby Grimm is a deputy working with seven males in the sheriff office in Vermont in a little town. She is checking out a call at a cabin in the woods. When someone wearing a mask got the drop on her and sprayed her face with a chemical and kissed her. The chemical reacted and she was high as a kite after. When she and her fellow deputy went back out to check the area they found a probably dead body in the cabin they thought looking through the windows. While waiting for forensics the propane tank exploded at the cabin. Thier quite little town had terrorists all over. Special Force team asked Gabby for help finding a kidnapped family of the dead guy. From thier is a lot of action and drama as one event after another happens. Everytime you think they are safe something else happens or they figure out what is really going on. I like Gabby and her co-workers and would like to see more of them in the future. Gabby's live in a guest house on her father's farm. He made a lot of money and moved to small town in Vermont and got a few different things going. The Snow White theme is used in little pieces here and their. Gabby does have a step-mother but she is nice and caring. It was a engaging novel can't wait to read the next Gabby Grim novel. I was given this ebook to read by the author and asked to give honest review of it. Published on October 13, 2012. Words: 52616 (approximate) ISBN: 9781301705887
  • Square Dance with a Scandalous Skunk: A Dance with Danger Mystery #1 on Dec. 09, 2012

4 stars This is the fourth novel by Sara Barton that I have read this week. While I enjoyed it, I have to say of the four this is my least favorite of them. Suzanne Dawkins works with her brother flipping houses. She has found one that she thinks will work and talks her brother into buying it. Even before they close on the house she has someone interested in it. Jasper Wintonberry thinks the little house would be perfect for his mom. If she could help pick the options on the remodling even the better. Suzanne had a crush on Jasper back in high school. So when he moved back to his hometown she welcomed him back. Suzanne runs and one day she saw that Jasper runs too and she hopes to bump into him sometime. When she does is after she had taken a tumble down the hill while out running and she is a mess when Jasper stops and offers her a ride home. When Jasper comes to the house the day the remodle starts to make arrangement for his mom to look at the house. Thier is a big commotion in the backyard as a dead body of the previous owner is dug up. Thier is a another guy from school who is coming on to Suzanne and she thinks he is a creep who had date raped and blackmailed her friend. Thier is a weird guy next store that tells them that she can't be thier because the owner will be back. Someone is threatening Suzanne. I like the characters and how they interact together. I got this book for free from Smashwords. Published: July 30, 2012 Words: 25907 (approximate) ISBN: 9781476118567
  • Where's Hansel and Gretel's Gingerbread House?: A Gabby Grimm Fairy Tale Mystery #2 on Dec. 10, 2012

4 STARS The second tale of Gabby Grimm is good, some action, drama, crime solving, but what I like best of her stories is the characters and how they act together and work together. I really like Gabby and how she cares and wants to help those around her. Wish I could have had her more with Sam. Gabby at the begining is chasing a suspect across a snowy roof top and slides off. Her being sore and full of bruises takes off to go see her cousin that asks for help. Her cousin is involved with the mob and FBI and her boyfriend has gone missing after she gave him private work papers. This is a shorter story or novela that I got for free on Smashwords right now. • Having a Killer Time, Wish You Were Here! A Practical Caregiver Caper #6 on Dec. 14, 2012

5 STARS Having a Killer Time, Wish You Were Here! A Practical Caregiver Caper #6 by Sara M. Barton This is a lot of short stories dealing with people who are care givers to others around them. They get across the plot, characters and message all come across great. A couple of these stories hit me personally hard. One had a mother in a wheel chair after a stroke and working hard to relearn things. In my case it was the opposite. I was the one at 24 had the stroke and was in the hospital for two months. Then months of physical therapy. My mom was the care taker. Still have problems from it to this day. Thats why I can read a lot especially when I get down or in a lot of pain I can escape. Luckily no dead bodies around or attempted murders. Some of these stories have a big twist in them and some have little twists. Some have some romance and others are using romance for other reasons. I don't want to give away much. Just have time to read short stories or if you have the time to read them all at once you won't be disapointed in the mystery, action and the endings. I was given this ebook by the author in the hopes I would give it a honest review. Published: Aug. 11, 2012 Words: 69224 (approximate) ISBN: 9781476495675

  • The Mystery of the Missing Money (The Mystery Series, Short Story 1) on Dec. 29, 2012

4 STARS Mystery of the Missing Money (the Mystery series) is a short story. It takes place a week after their first adventure in The Mystery of Smugglers Cove. This is a really short story that stands alone but the characters are really introduced and fleshed out in the first book. The story takes place in the 1950's where the children play outside and explore thier world. Thier is a empty Castle and the four kids explore. Will tells the story to the three other kids about the bank robbers that were caught in town on his 9th birthday and the money was never found. While the children go back in the castle to look for a braclet one of the girls lost. They find the two escaped prisoners who came back to retrieve thier stolen money. I liked the story and would like to read more longer stories in the series. This one was really short one that I got free on Smashwords. I will read more books by Paul Moxham in the future. This was an adventure with lots of action for a short story. Published: May 14, 2012 ISBN: 9781476323237
  • Immortal Mine on Jan. 01, 2013

Immortal Mine: An Immortal Life by Cindy C Bennett 4 STARS i liked this story, I laughed and cried while reading it. The story takes place in a small town of Goshen, UT.(I am a shamed that I had to look up where Goshen is especially since its only a around an hour or so from where I live in another small town.) Niahm Parker is 17 and lives on the family farm. Her parents travel the world and write travel books. She has stayed on the farm while they have traveled since she was 13. She has chickens, cow, dog on 50 acres. She plans to stay in Goshen the rest of her life while all her friends plan to leave as soon as they can. No one moves to Goshen they all leave instead so it was big news when a farm is sold. The town did not know till the moving van got their. It was passed around that Sam Coleman 17 and his uncle Shane moved in. Everyone took them food to welcome them. Niahm took her famous pie to them and got off to a bad start with Sam when he asked if it was bought. All the high school girls were excited to have a good looking males move to town. Sam felt the binding to Niahm which meant that he had to be close by her as much as he can. A binding means to protect her. He ends up boarding his horses at her place till they can fix up thier barn. Sam is really old over 400 years. He is Immortal can only be killed by a few immortals who know how. So they have to be careful of others of thier kind. Sam starts to fall in love with Niahm and that is usually frowned upon getting attached to humans that they feel a binding for. Sam can also read minds by holding someones hands. It deals with a lot of issues. I like the characters and how slowly they built and let us know more. I kept on thinking how can they leave thier 13 year old home alone while they traveled around all the time. I hope that Cindy writes more books about these characters. I was given this ebook and asked in return to give honest review when I finshed it from Librarything. Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform (December 4, 2011) 326 pages ISBN-10: 1468031708
  • C.R.I.M.E. Science - Book 1: The Beginning on Jan. 10, 2013

3 STARS You can tell that this book was written in the past. So many changes in phones & computers. I would be interested in what the next book in the series will be like. I had a problem of connecting to the characters and caring about what happens to them. The story was good but a lot of science that made it hard for me to be interested. Its a clean read. A short story or novella. This is a different detective agency with a bunch of scientists and tech whizzes that solve cases. Thier client wants them to prove that her husband a famous volcano scientist was murdered. The police did not question his death was anything but a accident. A lot of volcano scientists die in explosions or eruptions. She had the body cremated before she thought it through. They take the case and try to back track and see who might have wanted him dead and why. I was given this ebook to read and asked to give a honest review of it when I had read it by Librarything. • What Evil Lurks in Monet's Pond: A on Feb. 23, 2013

4 STARS I was on good reads to look to see if another Gabby Grim story was out and saw a book trailer for What Evil Lurks in Monet's Pond. So I decided to buy it and read it. It was worth the .99 cents on amazon but I noticed it was free on Smashwords. (But I wanted to download on my new Kindle Fire and have not figured out how to do that just yet) Either way it is a short novella that is worth the price. Maisie Carr is staying at her sister's home and the whole family is their. She is a artist but she also works for the CIA. Her boyfriend no one can know of or what he does. So her cousins outs her for being gay. Which she does not like. She is supposed to check out an art theft nearby so she can't leave. She goes out to walk her dog and finds a dead body. I like the characters, would love to see Maisie in longer story. She is talented, smart and not afraid to yell for help when she is scared. Only think I disliked it was too short. I wanted more. • Little Red Riding Hood and the Secret Cookie Recipe: A Gabby Grimm Fairy Tale Mystery #3 on March 19, 2013

5 STARS Little Red Riding Hood and the Secret Cookie Recipe: A Gabby Grimm Fairy Tale Mystery #3 by Sara Barton Well late last night I got a suprize email with the link to the new Gabby Grimm Fairy tale Little Red Riding. So first thing this morning I started it. I wish I could say I could not put it down till finshed, But I ended up spending the day at doctors and hospital. I took it with me and read every chance I had. Finally I was home and could finsh it. I really enjoyed it. I like Gabby she is smart, fast thinking, cares for others. She is loyal friend. A lot of the same characters from the previous two books are back plus a lot of new ones. Sam her special forces boyfriend is back and is made a deputy for short time. The characters are likeable and you want to have everything turnout okay. The Sheriff's daughter has been kidnapped. As they race to get her back safely before they can get even with the Sheriff. The Sheriff takes his family when daughter is safe and disappears from mob. Gabby quickly realizes that their are some corrupted cops,FBI Agents and a whole bunch could be envolved. So she tries to reach higher in different offices and get around the bad cops. She figures how to play some of the bad guys while trying to figure out how to keep the Sheriff's family safe to come back into town. She is working with FBI,State cops, her own department,Sam special deputy. It is full of action, suspense, gunfights, bad cops, good cops and bad guys. It is also a clean read. Good drama and some romance thrown into it also. So if you like mystery, police detective you will like Little Red Riding Hood & the Secret cookie Recipe. I also liked the acknowledgments. First time to have my name in one thanks. It helped keep me from worring more while waiting in the doctors and hospital to have a book I was enjoying. I have enjoyed reading Sara Barton mysteries and will continue to read them.
  • Henry Hartman's Holiday Crisis: An on Aug. 18, 2013

4 STARS I have had this book for awhile on my kindle and I kept putting it off because I did not want to read about a liar. I should have just read it sooner. It was good. The one reason he lies is because he is working undercover. He is always trying to out think the bad guys. They are everywhere. Plus he does not want to worry his family over his job. Sydney has helped agent Henry Hartman with his cases for years now. She can play different parts very well. Henry also helped her with her ex-husband who was hiding assets from her. Sydney is basically alone now. She has enjoyed going to family events with Henry. Henry's family is good at lying too. He has been raised by four older women after his mom was killed. Hope, Faith, Prudence and Charity. The setting was a hotel in the middle of snow storm at Christmas. The pacing was good. You were never sure what was really going on. Does Henry really want to marry Sydney. What does Sydney really want. The story unfolds and let us know what is really going on. At least what Sydney finds out. This is a clean read. Lots of Drama unfolding, little action (especially compared to other mysteries that Sara has written. Lots of dialogs as the two talk about the past and what is happening now. I am going to put the next book about Henry Hartman on my kindle so I can read it soon. I believe I got the book free on smashwords while I had won other books by Sara M. Barton so I had downloaded it awhile back. Published: Dec. 06, 2012 Words: 35,780 (approximate)Language: English ISBN: 9781301555956
  • Miz Scarlet and the Holiday Houseguests (A Scarlet Wilson Mystery #3) on Dec. 18, 2013

4 STARS I have enjoyed all three Miz Scarlet books I have read. Lots of things happen around Miz Scarlet. There is a lot of mystery, action, romance, witty banter, humor and fun characters abound. Also is a clean read. A few of the characters have nicknames from their youth taken from the game clue which adds to the fun light side of them. Miz Scarlet and her brother still argue and bigger like they did growing up. Miz Scarlet runs a different motel or bed & breakfast. A lot of her guests come while they are sick or have no where else to stay. It is Christmas time and Larry asks for a favor that asks if her father can stay their for Christmas. Both of her parents want to come and they are divorced and fight a lot. Soon the inn is full with good and bad guys. This is a short 111 pages novella that you can buy alone or part of Killer Christmas by Sara M. Barton that has two other good mysteries in it. Plus it will be FREE ON AMAZON 12/19, 12/20. I actually got both for free on different places. I enjoy reading Sara M. Barton's mysteries.
  • Where There's Smoke, There's Prometheus: A Bodacious Baby Boomer Escapade #1 on April 27, 2014
    (no rating)
3 STARS This has a complex plot that in many ways went over my head. I was trying to follow all the twists and turns I never really connected to the characters. I was surprised many times at where the plot was taken too. It has spies, violence and action. You never are sure who to trust. I would not like to live that way. Maddy Walker is a college student. One of her professors really works to draw her into his beliefs. Their is a lot of peace not war, anti government, psychics. Maddy wants to work with dying patients. If you did not agree with the professor you were kicked out of his class. The setting for the most part was after Vietnam college campus during the cold war with USSR. With sleeper cells with a 50 year plan. I can see how a lot of the issues of the 60's are still around with different agendas. anti-war at colleges, drug scenes, brain washing, sleeper cells, You can see history repeating itself in so many ways. I liked Maddy but the other characters where all hiding agendas. Never really connected and cared for the others characters. Some of the characters that I did not like seemed to succeed in life. I like Sara's mysteries and will continue to read her stories. If you like deep complex stories try this book. There is a lot of violence but she rates her books PG. I agree it is not graphic in details of violence.
