Rylae Westiel is the Executive Officer on her ship the Corsari. She loves her job, and would trade it for nothing. Except maybe a captain's chair. While awaiting the results of her Captain's test Rylae and her crew are sent on a mission to the goblin world of Stenchstone to try to stop a war. Once they get there though, she quickly realizes not all is as it seems. She must dig deep to find the truth...but what will it cost? This book was amazing. Not just sci fi, not just fantasy, ST Xavier has brought us a delightful mix of both. The writing is fabulous; he writes everything in amazing detail but he also doesn't overwhelm you. The characters are fully developed and even though they aren't human you feel completely connected to them and you understand them. I am loving this new universe and I can't wait to see what Xavier has in store for us next!!!

After the mission on Stenchstone, everyone is changed. So it is probably a good thing they are sidelined for a while because of an overcharged battery. They could all use a break. Since she is going to be onworld for a while, Rylae decides to contact her parents. While communicating with her mother she receives bad news-her childhood best friend is back. She knows there is only one reason Saeralyn is back and staying with Rylae's parents...she needs help. Rylae hasn't spoken to her in years but she knows one thing: if she wants to protect her parents she has to help Saeralyn. ST Xavier has done it again!! A worthy successor of Rylae's Storm, he has brought us new characters and new worlds to fall in love with. The writing keeps getting better, and if you enjoyed the first book you will definitely love this one! I am even more hooked and already waiting impatiently for the third book!!!
