Richard Neumann

Biography

I was born in 1956 and raised on a small farm in Michigan. After graduating from college with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Forestry, I elected to join the Marine Corps to become a pilot. I flew the A4 Skyhawk, the same jet the instructors flew in the movie Top Gun. I spent seven years on active duty and eight years in the reserves, earning early retirement in 1994. In 1993, I started flying freight for Fedex. I've flown the B727, DC10, and MD11 throughout the US, Europe, Asia, Mexico, Canada, and South America. I even did an around the world trip in 6 days. Currently, I am a MD11 captain. I am fortunate to live in Montana, where I am the father of two fantastic kids. My youngest child is autistic, which is why I donate to the Autism Research Institute and why I usually feature an autistic character in my books.

Although always interested in writing, I didn't start writing seriously until 1987 when I got off active duty. Like most writers, my work reflects my life experiences. Write what you know, the writing teachers teach. What I have learned over the years is life is a wonderful journey with many ups and downs that offer valuable lessons. I write to entertain, inspire, and foster hope and goodness. Write on!
