These stories are set in Spain, Scotland, France and Prague as well as New Zealand, Australia, Mexico and the US. The writing style varies from magic realism in Vortex, to a gothic conclusion in Kafka's Kafe, and the elegantly historical story of Phantom Galleon. The book derives its title from the personal and communal conflicts that punctuate urban society - and how they are resolved.
