R.W. Finlan


Biography

Richard William Patrick Finlan was born in 1950, near Newport in South Wales. He is married to Josanne and has two daughters, Sinead and Kelly, and two grandsons, Iestyn (4) and Ieuan (six weeks).

Having had a varied career ranging from apprentice butcher, to chemical process technician, Richard’s most enjoyable working time was at the Pontypool Free Press, where he worked as Sports/Features editor for two years.

Richard plays blues and classical guitar, writes books and poetry (several published in national anthologies). He is co-author of Weird Tales From Wales, which he wrote with friend and former Free Press colleague, Darren Bowker-Powis.

He also makes models of WW2 fighting vehicles. He likes the history of WW2, along with Roman history, sci-fi, fantasy, horror and is an avid reader.

He created the Kin in 1990, and over the following few years, wrote a further four novels in the series, all which are to be published through Daric Books over the next few months.

Richard wants to retire somewhere warm, where he can laze around and do very little, except drink wine and smoke good cigars.
