The first book was decent, if misogynistic. I liked the zombies and the vamps and was impressed with how well thought out the characters plans were, even if the characters themselves were one dimensional.
This book is basically just the same stuff with a thin veneer of plot. The author adds a couple of new characters and tells us how they survived the outbreak and this is much less appealing a second time around.
Not recommended unless you loved the first, read anything zombie related or are interested in Mormons. ( The vast majority of the characters are Mormons)
I love the universe, the technology and the overall story has me hooked.
My only problem is the dialogue, as it affects the pacing. There is too much of it for my taste, and he slows the story down for gossip sessions between characters way too much for my taste. Also nobody whispers as much as these people do.
Despite this I've read them all and i'll buy the next, i just wish the author would slim down the dialogue. Its also perfectly acceptable for him to say SIX MONTHS LATER, some time i swear i'm reading in real time.
