Pamela Jenewein

Biography

I am not a writer... I'm the Reader. *S*

Spending my children's inheritance on books is a laborious undertaking. So many to choose from and never enough time to read them. I'm an ebook junkie, but still purchase favorite paperbacks as they become available.

I use to review books, but it took too much time away from reading. So now I hang out at Good Reads or here, and post one-liner reviews.

  • I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier! on July 01, 2011

As posted on the MM Group June Pick It board: "Oh My Effing Gawd!!! I loved this book!!! I love the characters!!! I love the premise!!! Crystal Rose is my new found mostest-favorite author!!! I can't get enough exclamation points in that sentence. *LOL* Smooth dialog, a story line that kept me captivated and wanting more with every page turn. The plot was real, the military scenes authentic, even secondary characters held their own with tangible realism. Throughout the read, I was THERE… in the Army, cringing at the drills verbal abuses, feeling the weight of a pack while running in the high heat. Also feeling camaraderie slowly building amongst the recruits, and then the anguish of a fallen comrade or the exhaustive emotional turmoil watching a friend struggle with PTSD. [...]" I'll be recommending this book... *S*

  • Date Night on March 05, 2012

I love Emma Holly so anything she writes is worth the purchase. Short story, Date Night by Emma Holly did not disappoint. The foursome was erotic, sizzling off my screen whether in the bed or out of it. The story moved fluidly and remained compelling throughout the read. Definitively recommended ebook.
  • Max and Julie on May 19, 2012

I am not a reader of books where the character(s) illustrated are authors, but this one was unavoidable. My strong attraction to this story stems from its main characters being in their older years; age 40-something, 60-something and 80-something respectively. So at this point everyone knows the reason why I picked up this book – for free by the way – now the reason why I don’t regret it. The sweet romantic premise was believable, even with its “love at first sight” theme. As the story unfolds that notion becomes clear and more genuine too. Cedric and Aaron are endearing, adorable and captivating. Their dialog simple but plainly inspiring romance to its fullest. Overall the story is a well written contemporary and fleshy to my way of liking. All the characters are appealing and realistic.
  • Black Woods: Book 1 (Black Woods Series) on May 20, 2012

An enchanting horror tale filled with mystery surrounding the forest in which four young men and two older women enjoy but learn to fear. Was the wooded area haunted or did a horrific beast roamed them looking for its next meal? Starts off as a simple contemporary story that quickly becomes a thrilling horror story, leaving the reader wanting more. The characters are endearing, genuine while they push the smooth suspenseful terror filled plot forward. The entire premise is captivating and entertaining.

  • The Mating: Hostile Hearts Part 1 on Feb. 09, 2013

Smashwords freebie The premise is natural, the characters compelling as the story moves sequentially. But could do with more proofing as its flow seems almost immature, long winded at times; losing what promise of an enjoyable read. I finished the read however, wanting to know how it evolved and then concluded. Yet, as mentioned before it has promise if given a bit more love and attention.

  • The Marquess of Gorsewall Manor on April 08, 2019

A freebie: A new author for me and one I'll be visiting often. A masterfully written regency period mystery entwined by a clandestine romance. The main characters were attractive and endearing and complex. The secondary characters were just as engaging. Collectively I was mesmerized by the story, though felt the mystery underdeveloped. I was sad to have it end, however - with HEA.
  • Releasing Rage on April 19, 2019

Cynthia Sax is a new author for me and one I'll be keeping an eye on from here on... Releasing Rage started off kinda dark, and a bit foreboding, but blossomed into an intriguing read. In this science fiction romance, Joan's relationship with Rage beautifully, believably unfurls with each page. The back story reveals just enough to create genuine suspense while supporting its earthy, delicate BDSM center. Its a fast paced story, but I never lost my place in the build up. The secondary characters give promise that this series will continue yet, I've collected Ms Sax's little short stories too. But a full length novel is my future - for certain. • The Highwayman on April 19, 2019

I adore Aby (short for Abyssinian, a cat breed). The author beautifully created a believable cat-like character that jumped off the pages. Maximilien Fitzroy was an earthy and tantalizing with his personal mystic and awesome '68 Shelby Mustang. This paranormal/fantasy mystery was a page-turner; couldn't put it down until its final scene.
