Pamela Jenewein

Biography

I am not a writer... I'm the Reader. *S*

Spending my children's inheritance on books is a laborious undertaking. So many to choose from and never enough time to read them. I'm an ebook junkie, but still purchase favorite paperbacks as they become available.

I use to review books, but it took too much time away from reading. So now I hang out at Good Reads or here, and post one-liner reviews.

  • I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier! on July 01, 2011
    (no rating)
As posted on the MM Group June Pick It board: "Oh My Effing Gawd!!! I loved this book!!! I love the characters!!! I love the premise!!! Crystal Rose is my new found mostest-favorite author!!! I can't get enough exclamation points in that sentence. *LOL* Smooth dialog, a story line that kept me captivated and wanting more with every page turn. The plot was real, the military scenes authentic, even secondary characters held their own with tangible realism. Throughout the read, I was THERE… in the Army, cringing at the drills verbal abuses, feeling the weight of a pack while running in the high heat. Also feeling camaraderie slowly building amongst the recruits, and then the anguish of a fallen comrade or the exhaustive emotional turmoil watching a friend struggle with PTSD. [...]" I'll be recommending this book... *S*

  • Max and Julie on May 19, 2012

I am not a reader of books where the character(s) illustrated are authors, but this one was unavoidable. My strong attraction to this story stems from its main characters being in their older years; age 40-something, 60-something and 80-something respectively. So at this point everyone knows the reason why I picked up this book – for free by the way – now the reason why I don’t regret it. The sweet romantic premise was believable, even with its “love at first sight” theme. As the story unfolds that notion becomes clear and more genuine too. Cedric and Aaron are endearing, adorable and captivating. Their dialog simple but plainly inspiring romance to its fullest. Overall the story is a well written contemporary and fleshy to my way of liking. All the characters are appealing and realistic.
  • Black Woods: Book 1 (Black Woods Series) on May 20, 2012

An enchanting horror tale filled with mystery surrounding the forest in which four young men and two older women enjoy but learn to fear. Was the wooded area haunted or did a horrific beast roamed them looking for its next meal? Starts off as a simple contemporary story that quickly becomes a thrilling horror story, leaving the reader wanting more. The characters are endearing, genuine while they push the smooth suspenseful terror filled plot forward. The entire premise is captivating and entertaining.
  • Cat Snips on May 20, 2012

The Soldier and the Siren: A quick, fun and erotic read. The Rookie (a Studs in Spurs series deleted scene): Simply erotic. Eight Second Ride (a Studs in Spurs series short story): Funny and hot and action packed. Having read many other Cat Johnson stories, this author always entertains and satisfies.

  • Buried In Benidorm on May 22, 2012

Smashwords Freebie Maximiliano “Max” Castillo is a former priest now working as a Private Investigator probing crimes in a Spain coastal beach resort. Its touristy spirit is tangible as are the other sights and sounds of this European region. The murder of renowned local philanthropist, Anthony Ortega, also known bully and wife beater, reunites Max with the very diocese he was called to. Before Max interviews a single person, another local mobster begins threatening his life. Apparently, they don’t want him investigating Anthony’s murder. But why? Still, the diocese wants Max to pursue this murder investigation with vigor. After all he still owes them a debt; his seminary tuition. Bishop Anderson Mendoza hopes the outcome proves Anthony’s wife the murderer, thus the church inheriting the mobster’s millions. HA! Even the church can be a greedy bitch. Who knew? Tons of suspects fuel the twists and turns of this thrilling, captivating mystery with descriptive monologue and dialog that is well written and stout. It’s a stereotypical victimology, a much hated person who deserves to die, while suspicion floats from one suspect to another. And each possesses very good reason to off the s.o.b. Heck! After reaching the middle of the story, even I want to off the guy! This story kept me engrossed until the last page. The vast cast of characters gives life to the coastal resort far across “the pond”. The main character, Max is not all that complex; a controlled alcoholic with a gambling problem who has lost his faith. A terrible way to be for any devoted Catholic (no sarcasms intended), more so for any loyal Spaniard. However what is most unnatural, he’s not a womanizer, as most Spaniards are branded. Interesting. But then I guess he’s too caught up in that next beer or the next horse race to pay attention to the opposite sex? The array of secondary characters was intriguing and endearing too. Minimal typos or other editing blunders throughout the story; only a forgotten “a” or an extra “the”. These little nuisances never deter from the read. The story moved smoothly, and clearly. It was a delightful read and one I will enjoy opening again.
  • Back-up on May 26, 2012

WOW! This short story really moves through the rapid action and suspense. The characters are engaging, believable. The read was captivating as the mystery unfolds smoothly. Definitely recommend it.
  • Bonds of Fire on May 26, 2012

This was an enchanting fantasy, pictorial in its descriptions and mesmerizing in its adventurous plot. Drekken and his charges, a combination clutch of youth empaths, dragons and hatchlings now in his care, were believable and endearing. A sweet story.
  • Paranormal Fantasies: A Promotional Collection of 14 Erotic Supernatural Stories on May 28, 2012

Of course all possess a paranormal/fantasy premise, as this anthology’s title clearly states. Each read was fluid, but their plots commonplace. The characters felt genuine, alive making the read more engaging.
  • Whiskey Dreams on May 31, 2012

An enjoyable read. Great characters and believable premise.
  • Coming Home on June 01, 2012

Was a well written short story, never loosing its quick erotic feel during the read. The characters Chad and Chase felt real, and their relationship building genuine too. I normally don't complain about an author's selection of character names but the "Chad" and "Chase" combo really made the read rather hard and distracting. I found myself having to re-read a sentence or paragraph to rediscover who was "talking". Trivial I know, but worth mentioning in my book.
  • Seconds on June 10, 2012

The read is a nice idle pace, with a believable historical plot. The two main characters were genuine and stout. Overall the short story experience was delightful and sweet, as there is no explicit sex. Still even so, the read is worth the time and should be shared.
  • Heart And Soul on June 12, 2012

Well written short stories that are highly erotic but with an engaging premise. The characters authentic and support the simple romances.
  • The War at the End of the World on June 16, 2012

An absorbing read, as a person cannot look away for one minute without loosing her place. However this very deep, intricate story made it all that more intriguing, addicting. The characters Joseph and Fetch are just as complex as this surreal premise.

Excellent story line with fast paced action for such a short story. The characters were endearing and genuine.
  • Lucky Night on Aug. 06, 2012

Well written short story. Erotic premise and believable characters too. A recommended read for some quickie male-on-male action.
  • Morning Star on Aug. 06, 2012

An interesting read but one that was strictly for the eroticism, not the story line. The generic contemporary plot possessed engaging characters as they graduate from a unexpected sensual encounter, then onto natural foreplay, and finally the climax. However, this very short story is well written, which I believe hard to do; organized and fleshy too.
  • In the Marshal's Arms, an Erotic Western Novella on Aug. 09, 2012

  • Pack Law on Feb. 09, 2013
    (no rating)
Smashwords freebie WOW! The story begins beautifully and it’s relatively well written however… where is the proper dialog formatting? It’s crammed inside the descriptive paragraphs, making for a very hard and engaging read. Continuing the read, its like I’m reading an essay instead of erotic romance fiction. Adding to this disappointment, the story flip-flops between First and Third Person, dashing my Saturday plans in reading a cool erotic paranormal. With the previous positive reviews, I’m wondering if the PDF version, which I downloaded, is flawed.

  • The Mating: Hostile Hearts Part 1 on Feb. 09, 2013

Smashwords freebie The premise is natural, the characters compelling as the story moves sequentially. But could do with more proofing as its flow seems almost immature, long winded at times; losing what promise of an enjoyable read. I finished the read however, wanting to know how it evolved and then concluded. Yet, as mentioned before it has promise if given a bit more love and attention.
