Career highlights
:: Associate Diploma (Accounting)
:: At age twenty-two, co-founder of specialised recruitment company, Aslan Human Resources
:: 1996 finalist for Queensland Telstra Small Business Awards
At just twenty-two years of age, Michelle co-founded Aslan Human Resources, an engineering specific recruitment company that serviced large companies and organisations such as the Brisbane City Council, Macarthur Coal, Duke Energy International and Evans Deakin Engineering.
Two years on from starting her recruitment business, Michelle was honoured as one of the finalists in the 1996 Queensland Telstra Small Business Awards.
After meeting her husband Jonathon and moving to Roma, Michelle sold her share of the business to her co-founder, and decided to ‘spread her wings’ and travel the world for six months.
Since her return, Michelle has bought and renovated several properties, is bringing up a young family and manages the finances of a family business in property maintenance. She has also become well known as a budgeting expert, thanks to the creation of her practical budgeting tool called the ‘Personal Budget Organiser’, or PBO. The PBO works as a portable filing system within a wallet – perfect for organising money, receipts, or anything that will help you budget.
Teaming her product with a useful website, www.secretbudget.net, Michelle hopes to inspire Australians to ‘get back to basics’ with their understanding of expenditure and money.
