Bridget Giraldo

Biography

My name is Bridget Giraldo, M.S., CCC-SLP. I am a licensed, ASHA certified, speech language pathologist. I love offering my knowledge and expertise to help others improve their communication skills.

I have worked in acute care, inpatient rehab, sub-acute care, outpatient rehab, private practice, and private and public schools. One common theme—that is prevalent across settings and ages—is the fact that whenever family is not included and supportive in the evaluation and treatment process, significant progress is hardly ever made.

Thus, my professional philosophy is to empower parents and caregivers in every step of the process. You are the ones who make the real difference, and it can be easy and fun! Being a mother has given me a new perspective on time management. Therefore, I want to give parents easy ideas on how to incorporate speech and language activities into daily life. To reach as many parents and professionals as possible, I created a website called Speech Therapy Talk. Here, I share ideas on speech and language therapy and much more!
When I am not being a speech language pathologist, I’m a wife to a wonderful and supportive husband, Juan, and a mother to an adorable and energetic son, Lucas. You will find me playing with my son, spending time with my family and friends and, when schedules allow, mountain biking.

Education and Expertise

I graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana with a Bachelor’s in Speech and Hearing Science and a Minor in Spanish. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Master’s in Communicative Disorders. I have extensive experience working with children and adults with articulation disorders, phonological disorders, language learning disorders, feeding disorders, apraxia, aphasia, oral motor disorders, dysphagia, childhood apraxia of speech, voice disorders, fluency disorders and accent modification.
