Smashwords book reviews by Alyssa

OK so where to begin... I was really excited to read this book because of its raving reviews and because the description seemed so interesting. And for the most part this book exceeded my expectations! It was well written but there were a few grammatical errors here and there where words were missing, but you can always tell the point of the sentence. I really loved the characters especially the scenes with Talia and her team - they had such a great dynamic that I could see everything playing out! Spoiler!! [ I also loved the scene where Talia blows up at Donovan... doesn't every girl wish she could do that to her cheating boyfriend's house? I also adored the scene between Erik and Talia where he took her pain... so chivalrous!] Anyway this book contained quite a few memorable scenes and the characters were well developed for the most part. The only thing that I had a problem with was the ending or rather lack of an ending. Since this does continue with a sequel and the sequel is already released I'm not hung up over it but I was disappointed that the relationship problems weren't dealt with in this book nor was the final outcome of the mission finalized to the reader. I can only assumed that all of this is explained in the next book. So overall I would give this four stars for its amazing characters and great plot line! I've already bought the sequel and plan to start it soon! : )

Actual Rating: 4.5 stars I received this book from a ARR program on goodreads. I absolutely adored this book! The characters were very likeable and easy to relate to. Plus I found the plot to be pretty unique... not one mention of vampires, werewolves, or anything as such. This was one of those books that I truly had a hard time putting down because it constantly kept me on the edge of my seat. The end was completely unexpected for me and I loved Logan's character. The only reason I gave it four point five stars instead of five was because of a few grammatical errors throughout... none of which made the story hard to understand. I also loved the fact that Sarah and Lucas's story ends at the end of this book. I hate when authors drag a story across several books and the story becomes tired because of that. In this book the author ties up the story nicely and the sequel appears to be mainly about Lucas's brother. Overall a very intriguing story and I'm definitely planning to read the sequel.

I received this book through We Love YA Books ARR. First off I completely adored this story! It was one of those books that you could just curl up on a lazy summer afternoon and read the day away without even realizing it! I also loved the cover and the title! The pier heading out to sea really seemed to reflect the book or at lease I think so. At first I was a little nervous because the first part of the book contained a lot of scenes leading up to the real conflict but the author did a very good job of including Michael in at the most perfect moments in Willow's life. This book is definitely for people (probably mostly teenage girls) who like fun summer reads like Sarah Dessen novels or the like. I found that it was very easy to relate to Willow's character and I thought Tessa's character balanced out the book nicely. Brian's whole back story towards the end was a little rushed but overall summed up nicely. There was one quote by Michael that I particularly liked, “We are all dying, aren’t we, Willow, from the very moment we are born?” Overall this book was a very enjoyable read and I would recommend it to anyone!

Actual Rating: 4.5 stars *I received this e-book through We Heart YA Books!* This e-book was good... the kind of good that makes a reader wonder why this author isn't as well known as other popular young adult authors. The beginning was a little slow, but once I got to the meat of the book, I completely enjoyed it! Christopher and Ellie were so cute together and James made for a good "bad guy". Overall I enjoyed this book immensely especially for the surprise twist at the end! I would recommend this book to any female teen.

*I received this e-book through We Heart YA Books!* So I was a little disappointed with this book. I was completely in love with the first book in this series but this sequel fell flat for me. It seemed more slow paced and there wasn't a lot of dialogue but there was a lot of reflection especially by Michael. I assume she did this to reflect Michael's character but it got a little tiring after a while. The saving grace in this book was actually the characters. The authors writes her characters so flawlessly that you as the reader have to fall in love with them. I loved Cassandra (especially her very interesting back story), Michael was a another great character, Artemis was a great addition, and I even liked Dimitris. [SPOILER The ending was a little predictable especially since Artemis was so against Ellie, but that was an excellent twist all the same. I can't wait to see what really happened to Ellie in the third book! (hide spoiler)] Even though this book didn't live up to my expectations coming away from the first I would still recommend it to anyone. The plot remains interesting and with the cliffhanger at the end, I can't wait to read the third in the series.
