This book had me from the very first page. I find it hard to believe that this is Jen Wylie's debut novel. It was great! It wasn't all mushy romance, more like action fantasy romance. I wasn't sure who to root for in this story. Our main heroine, Shara, is a healer who is put in a war-time situation. While fleeing for her life, she comes across a wounded solider who she tries to nurse back to health. Shara's healing power is just starting to show itself, so she doesn't know how to use it to save the soldier. They must travel back to a safe place without getting captured and while our wounded solider is healing. The story moves along very quickly and we come to find love and hope in the strangest of places. Shara ends up with three different men who would love to take her as their own. Who will she choose? Where does her heart truly lie? Even at the end of the book, I was still wondering what would happen if ..... If there is ever a sequel to this story, I would pick it up in a heartbeat!

The Cambridge List is a humorous dark comedy that features a very likeable James Connor. He is a flunked-out, former student of Cambridge University and he is given experimental drugs to help ease his depression. Once he starts taking the drugs he can see and hear the Greek Gods. James is living a miserable life after being turned down for his masters program by the academic board at his university. His thesis was about the Greek Gods and the academic board didn’t like it. And boy are the Gods pissed off! They have decided that these mortals on the Classics department must be eliminated and they have chosen James as their weapon. The story follows James and the Gods as they try to work out the killing order and method for each of the deaths. Just as in the myths, the Gods and Goddess are always trying to get one over and don’t always get along nicely with each other. The only problem is that they are now battling it out in James’ brain! Overall the book was very amusing. It was always interesting to see what the Gods and Goddess would want James to do. What was even funnier was when he tried to do the things they wanted. There were a few things that I didn’t like about the book and one of them was the forensic science part of my brain refused to accept the details of the police investigation. If the murders were supposed to be considered accidental, why would they be looking for a murderer? Also, I don’t know what year this book was supposed to take place, but they had cell phones so I have to guess that is it fairly recent. I think anywhere in this century (and even last century) the coroner would be able to tell the difference between the body of man and that of a woman. Just sayin ….

This story revolves are Talyn and Joseph as they not only discover their love for each other, but also discover a whole new world involving an extra ability they didn’t know was real to anyone but themselves. They have dreams that actually do come true. Could you imagine dreaming of your soul mate for years and then actually meeting them? This story is also a romance story about true love. Tammy has written some wonderfully touching moments that will bring tears to your eyes. There are many interesting things happening in this story, but there is also a bad guy. Since the issue with the bad guy wasn’t resolved, I must wonder if there will be another book that takes up where this one leaves off. This was a debut novel for Tammy and she did an excellent job of keeping me captivated and emotionally involved with the characters. This was a quick read that I recommend to anyone that loves a sweet love story with a bit of paranormal thrown in. It was refreshing to read a true love story that was not filled with graphic sex, violence, and bad language that is normally associated with romance novels. It will be interesting to see where Tammy goes with her next novel.

This book starts out with Chloe Jacobs and her 13 year old daughter, Danielle, doing a little grocery shopping. When Chloe stops to help an elderly gentleman who has collapsed on the floor, the last thing she is thinking is that her daughter would be in danger. But she was. While Chloe gives assistance to the unconscious man, someone kidnaps her daughter. The police are called and of course handle it like most calls for missing teenagers. Are you sure she didn’t just run away? Chloe is out of her mind with worry and decides she needs help. She calls her friend Sloanne to come and help her through this terrible time. Sloanne has the instincts of a detective because of years of guidance from her police officer father and his partner, Patrick Louchilin. Uncle Patty, as Sloanne calls him, is now retired and runs a security firm and does consulting work for the police department. Together, they decide to do some investigating on their own to help find Danielle’s kidnapper. I think what immediately captured me with this book is that the bad guy preyed on good Samaritans with children. As a mom, you immediately feel the terror of Chloe when she starts looking for her daughter. Every moment you cannot find your child is pure hell. You fight the panic that threatens to overwhelm all of your senses. The authors did a great job in describing the nightmare that Chloe was going through. The authors, C.K. Webb and D.J. Weaver, take you on a suspense filled journey through the town of Aberdeen as other children start to turn up missing. Finally, the police believe that something is going on. But is it too late for the children that have already been taken? I did enjoy the book and I found myself reading well into the night because I just had to find out who was and who was not the villain in this story. C.K. Webb and D.J. Weaver created a great cast of characters who all could have been involved, but you just aren’t sure until it is actually revealed in the book who the bad guy really is or isn’t. I know I had one guy in mind that I was very suspicious of for a while and I kept thinking, please don’t let it be him! LoL
